Wanted to, but I'm in Denver for a conference. Would be fun to race against some of my old teammates though.

I've never done a bike race. It's something I'm interested in but seems kind of intimidating.

It's just a TT... It's a bike leg without a swim, a run, or transitions. Now granted, the guys who win this thing average 26-30mph for 40K, but TT's aren't very intimidating. They just hurt.

Much less intimidating than doing a Tri, IMO.  Way more laid back.  Bring your trainer, get your legs warm, head to the start line, suffer for 40k, go and drink a beer and you are done.

Good way to test yourself out on the bike.

Also super cheap 20 bucks for this one I think.

I was looking to sign up but i'm not familiar with the Cat rankings and don't know which to do, i assume it's either Cat 1 or Cat 5

I'd like to do this but its the day before Eman and I'll be down in OC.  Last year my cousin (Joe Liberto) won the Cat 1 race.  Some crazy time like under an hour or something.

If you don't know, you're a 5. You'll also have to get a 1-day USAC license, just like USAT.

Yeah, the P/1/2 guys averaged right around 29-30. Craziness.

This is both a combination of the Eagleman area and where they used to do the MD/DE/VA district TT championships.

I know the 40k route fairly well.

I did it back in '06 when it was a week after E-Man.  Averaged 23.5 and still only got 7th in the Cat. 5 field (on really tired legs from a rough e-Man the week before).

I haven't registered yet but I'm probably doing it.  I love time trials.  I've done this race several times before.  If you sign up, know that you park and sign in at the school but you have to allow time to ride about 4 miles to the start.  It makes for a nice warmup but don't miss your start time.  The course is pretty nice.  Just a few turns with police at the intersections.  Very flat but you can get some crosswinds coming off the water.  Yes - you will see quite a few times well below an hour.

The parking situation is different because EagleMan moved weeks and is the following day and are using the school.  The site has all the info on it.

I don't know the school names.  Maybe this is a different school from where we're usually allowed to park.  I'll look it up and follow the directions.  Either way, just know that you're going to get a nice warm up in riding to the start time and make sure you allow time for it.  Check start times once they're posted and before you leave to go there.

Usually, the school is open and we can use the bathrooms.  If I remember right, there was a mistake last year and this didn't happen but we usually have bathroom access.

Scamp07... you should try one if you've never done one before.  It's a lot of fun... in a cruel and unusual way.  ;-)  It's not the Columbia tri course - you'll be hard pressed to find a flatter 40K.  I think the biggest elevation is when you ride over a small bridge.  I think you'll be about 5 feet above sea level in the middle of the bridge!
