I told Michellie Jones that I thought my upcoming (1st) Oly was going to be A LOT easier than the 70.3 race I  was training for last summer. Michellie in her gracious ways just said "Good luck with that" with a smile/smirk on her face!!

I'm sure that I won't need glide for just a run.  (Before my first 9 mile run).

Ouch!

Zilla - 2005-04-18 4:39 PM Me to person at the bike shop: "Is that the chamois butter with sunscreen in it?" Don't be shy... let's hear 'em.

Yes, ma'am.  And if you can't handle the butter, we have the chamois margarine, too.

It's been videotaped and made public for all to hear here on BT.  Just ask Birkierunner and Pseudoyams since they will never let me live it down.

When I bought my first road bike, I went to pick it up and said the guy at the bike shop "um, you guys forgot to put the kick-stand on."  Bike shop guy "well we dont put one on to make it lighter."  To make matters worse I then asked, "well what I am supposed to do with it when I'm not riding."  The bike shop guy showed me how to lean the bike up against the wall!!

After a long nutrition and hydration lecture and strong advice not to consume gels along with sports drink I raised my hand and insisted the following.

"I always chase my GU with concentrated sports drink. It helps me get the calories in." My next long run I was wishing I had taken the advice of the speaker as I burped/puked up all the gu and sports drink. There is a reason they are called experts. Never again.

The visual of said bike shop guy casually walking your bike over to the wall makes me laugh out loud. Priceless!

At an early-season race this year (pool swim) I checked the preliminary results after the race and saw that I was first in the Clydesdale division.  As I went around telling everyone else on my team that I won my division, three other folks who started after me (slower swimmers) finished with better overall times, knocking me back to fourth.

On the bright side, I did still have the fastest swim split and bike split in the division.

me: "Lets do a IM next year!"

friend: "oh yeah which one?"

me: "im thinking Lake Placid in July"

friend: "you realize you'll have to sign up for a full before you complete your first half, thats just stupid, how will you know you want to do a full if you havent finished a half?"

me: "good question"

I signed up, it all worked out, and yes I'll do another

OHHHH, and yes, the bike thing. I 'only need this cheaper road bike'. Enter tri bike within a year. And then with the tri bike, 'oh I dont want to spend over x-amount' I still have the tri bike and it is ok, but I wish I would have thrown in that extra $500 and got what would nto make me want to upgrade!

I think it would be interesting to start riding with Zilla and Pirategirl.  They use flavored chamois cream that has sunscreen in it.    That is  if we  could keep up.

Last night after a ride giving directions to my house:

Note:  We are in the car.

Him: Where do I turn?

Me:  Right after this climb, make a left.

We both stared at each other for a moment to let it sink in and just laughed.

My first tri ever was with Team in Training. I asked the guy after I'd signed up ...

``Do you guys, like, give me a bike or something?''
