Me to myself: "Why wait until you've finished the Couch to Sprint program? Let's do a tri 4 months sooner!"

me to moi: "Let's get the hill out of the way today and start out going up hill...."

fast lesson learned: NEVER try to climb a hill before warmed up

smartest thing anyone has said to me thus far

me to guy at bike shop: "what would be the best thing to upgrade first?" (referring to the new ride) guy: "um you should ride a lot."

Me to person at the bike shop: "Is that the chamois butter with sunscreen in it?"

I guess that's better than "Is that the strawberry flavored chamois butter?"

"Oh sheesh...this sport is EASY!"

Said to myself after winning my age group in my first race (there was just me and one other guy in the group).

Well so far I think it is "I think I am going to try a triathlon. I will just learn how to swim and get a bike." My first Tri will be this summer. Heres hoping all goes well!!!!!!!

However my ex bf who is a tri geek, once called me "Just a runner". He even made a comment about marathon running once and said "but that is all they are doing that day!" I still get on his case for that one!!!!!

I gotta out my wife (HuskerAlumna95) on this one:

I showed up for John Tanner but it was canceled due to weather. They decided to do the 5k portion anyway. Before the start, she asked me: "You can run that far, right?"

As if running it in the rain would be harder than running after swimming 600 yds and biking 11.2 miles.

Still, I love the fact that she was waiting for me while I was running. I have the best support team in the world!

I think that the dumbest thing I ever said just before my third triathlon was: "Don't worry too much about your time, just pace yourself and enjoy the race.  I'll be waiting here here at the finish line when you come in."  I said this to a young lady who was very nervous about her first tri.  She came in with a time of 1:17 looking fresh as a daisy and I crawled in with a time of 1:37 looking like I'd been beaten severely!!!!!

I had to add the silliest thing I ever did as a runner. I had just finished the Nordion 10K. It is a big race in Ottawa with Thousands of people. I did very well for me and I had a pb (by like 2 minutes) So when I finished I was THRILLED! Walking out I saw my friend Simon and some woman talking. As I went past he asked me how I did! Of course I gushed all over him and his friend about my shining moment in running history. Only of course to find out the next day that the woman beside him was none other than UTA Pipig. She had won of course! I had been so extatic the day before I never even asked how she did.

I swear my mother raised me better than this!

Found this in the archives, thought it might be worth a bump.

Me: Think I'll ever do an Ironman?

My Wife: No

Me: I'll show you.

Ooops.

Had to be explaining the swim course to a young lady my friend introduced me to before a race. I told her where to go and stand up if the swim leg got too hard for her. She even let me hold her second place overall female medal after the race...
