I think the RD does a great job with Philly Tri.  Sorry to hear of your injury.

md2400block - 2009-06-29 4:29 PM I was really excited when I signed up for this race over 9 months ago.  I trained extremely hard throughout the year as I tried to do this race last year but couldn't because it filled up and I didn't sign up quick enough.  While I was training I suffered a sports hernia and had surgery in late May.  Due to my injury I wasn't able to participate in Saturday's 2009 running.  LARS BECK is the race organizer and I asked him since I already paid the $150.00 fee to participate but by doctors orders I wasn't able to do the Tri and asked LARS if he could simply use my fee for next years race and he wouldn't help me out at all.  I was extremely disappointed as this is a race I was looking to do for over a year and had no control over getting injured.  I wasn't asking LARS for the money back but simply to use it as payment for next years race and I was met with an attitude and a "it's not my problem" response.  BEWARE WHEN DEALING WITH LARS BECK!

I'm sorry to hear that you got injured and missed the race.  It sucks, but slamming the RD because he would not make a special exception for you isn't cool.

X2... I didn't do the Philly race this year, but have done it in the past, and it really is a well-run event. Again, sorry you were injured and couldn't do the race, but it's definitely not cool to bash the RD when you agreed to the policy he is enforcing when you signed up for the race. And, by the way, I have had to eat entry fees to at least three races that I can think of off the top of my head because I was unable to participate due to injury or other life circumstances. I didn't even CONSIDER asking for special consideration because I knew the policy when I signed up. It's the risk we all take when signing up for events like this well in advance.

I did the Philly Oly Tri this weekend and I must say that I LOVE this race. I'm only in my second year of triathlons, but from my perspective it is very well run and just a hell of a lot of fun. I did the sprint last year and that was also a great event.

Someone mentioned it earlier... yes it is a little pricier than smaller local tri's, but it's worth the money to at least do it once. What other sport can you participate in and race on the same course, at the same time, as some of the world's greatest athletes that are at the top of the sport?

This was my first olympic distance race and, while I didn't set any land speed records, I was happy with my finishing time of just over 3 hours. Hats off to Lars for another world class event!

I was at Olympic pickup earlier and this guy was in the next line over picking up his packet:

He was racked next to me for the Oly relay. He was the biker and his sons were the swimmer and runner.

He lives in chestnut hill. I remember a few years back , he had a show where he was a philly cabbie. Remember that the show was filmed in philly, and he was happy to get to work from his home.

From his Wiki page.......

Personal life

Morse has been married to actress Susan Wheeler Duff since June 19, 1982.[4] They have three children, one daughter and twin boys.[4] In 1994, Morse moved to Philadelphia with his family after the 1994 Northridge earthquake to be near his wife's family.[15][8] Morse stated that out of all of the films he has done, his favorites are The Green Mile,[15] The Crossing Guard and The Indian Runner.[11]

Would guess he was on one of these teams....looks like he had some other family racing too
