Swim
Comments: Need to work on my swimming. I feel could shave 2 min off that swim time pretty easy. What would you do differently?: Warmed up in the pool. I thought I still had awhile until I went but I ended up going with a bunch of people with a lower bib number than me. Flip turns would have helped me catch back up to the other people in my lane so I could have continued drafting. Transition 1
Comments: Had a little trouble getting into my shoes on the uphill, but not so much that it slowed me down from putting me shoes on in transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing, very happy with my transition. Bike
Comments: At the bottom of the hills there were 90 degree corners, so you couldn't hold your speed through them. I felt I did a good job of going through them quickly though. Sometimes I would have to speed up before the corner so that I wouldn't get stuck behind someone while in the corner. Did good on the hills on the first and third lap, struggled a bit with them on the second lap. Drank 2/3 of a water bottle with regular gatorade. Pretty happy with it especially considering that I hadn't been on a bike in a week. What would you do differently?: Pushed it harder on the downhills on my first lap and harder on the uphills on my second lap, but overall I am very happy with my results. Transition 2
Comments: Had a little trouble getting my bike in the rack. But overall smooth. Ran while I reset my garmin and put on my race belt. It was a small transition area, but I was on the exact opposite side of the run exit and I probably would have had time to change the mode on my garmin. What would you do differently?: Not tried to rush racking my bike, accept that it will take a second. Run
Comments: Really wanted to break 20min, but seeing the results I am happy with my time. I didn't drink much just took a sip of water at each of the three aid stations and the poured the rest on me. What would you do differently?: I should have realized that I just wasn't going to be running that fast and should have accepted it. I probably would have run faster overall rather than pushing myself really hard when I could. Post race
Warm down: None What limited your ability to perform faster: Not having biked in a week. Not doing flip turns. Getting frustrated with my running pace. Last updated: 2009-05-31 12:00 AM
