Pre-race routine:

Was a bit late today. Coffee for breakfast and a jug of Hammer Perpetuem
Event warmup:

A little bit of swimming but not enough
Swim
  • 4h 49m
  • 440 yards
  • 1h 05m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Out to first bouy fine. However when I rounded first bouy I never looked at the next bouy. I just kind of guessed where it was. Next thing I know I swimming towards the boats and they're yelling at me to turn. That had to cost me a lot of time. Kicked a little to hard during the first 100 yards.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up longer
Take a good line of sight after that first bouy
Transition 1
  • 02m 44s
Comments:

I couldn't get the wet suit off! Why in the heck did I wear the stupid thing.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear a wetsuit for a 1/4 mile swim
Bike
  • 38m 48s
  • 15 miles
  • 23.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I feel like I could have pushed the bike harder. But I am happy with the time.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

When I would let go of the velcro on the bike shoes it would fall back down and re latch. I struggled to get my shoes off. Gave my self a charlie trying to rip my shoes off
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice this stuff.
Run
  • 22m 35s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I thought we ran through the parking lot longer before coming to the finish. Should have started the finish push sooner. I need to push the entire run like I do in training
What would you do differently?:

Know the course
Post race
Warm down:

Eat

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim sighting
Transitions

Event comments:

My goal was top 20 in AG with a time of 1:10. I did that. However I made mistakes that had I not made I would have been faster.

If you started the swim on the far left closest to the bouys, I drafted you all the way out to the first bouy. Thanks. You made my swim leg.

10 OA for the swim is awesome man! Your hard work is definitely going to pay off this season. Are you doing Lake Padden this year?

Ahhh... you're the guy that was out front on the swim.  I was right behind you and was wondering where you were going after we made the first turn.  Thought you knew something I didn't, so did some extra sighting to make sure I wasn't off course...
