Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:30AM. Had a granola bar and some water. Drove over to the Y and set-up transition. Got body marked on the way to pick up the chip. Had another granola bar.
Event warmup:

None. I thought about swimming a couple of laps in the small pool, but that pool is so much warmer and I didn't feel like standing around freezing, because we had to line up early.
Swim
  • 08m 21s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Even though we started in pairs and spaced out 10 seconds, I was stuck in a bundle of swimmers between 100 and 200 meters. All of a sudden, everyone was gone (some were ahead and some I left behind) and I was able to finish the swim on my own rhythm.
What would you do differently?:

Feel good about my swim, but will have to do more speed work to improve my time. I have the endurance, now it's about the speed! :)
Transition 1
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

Climbed out of the pool and jogged to the bike. Found my transition area easily. Was a little shaky, so closing the shoes was a little difficult. Got a big sip out of my water bottle and grabbed a couple of Powerbar drops.
What would you do differently?:

Hurry up a little more? :)

Comments:

This was a great ride. I know the route inside and out. I passed several people on the course and got passed a couple of times too. Over the last 2 miles I raced a guy and we passed each other three times or so. On the last nasty hill, I finally got him for good.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I am happy with this ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Found my transition area easily again. Socks were optional for me for the run, but decided to put them on b/c I lost my blister band-aid somewhere on the way and didn't want to get issues with it on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Again... I have to hurry up.
Run
  • 37m 22s
  • 4 miles
  • 09m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

The first half mile felt bad... not so much my legs, but my stomach. I was aiming for a 10 minute average and was happy to see that I was able to stay under that for the segment.
What would you do differently?:

I need to get faster... I lost most ground on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around and some light stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Missing experience overall and running as weakest discipline.
