Subject: Tri Store in the Metro Area?
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is a good store in the metro area that sells triathlon jerseys. I checked out Erik's Bike Shop, but the selection was very limited. I am willing to order online, but I was hoping to try something on first and support a local business.

Where do all of you go to shop for new clothing, or do you just order it online?

Thanks!
Matt

If large selection is what you are looking for, Gear West is about the only choice, methinks (though barely metro)

Penn usually has some tri gear

Other LBS's may have an item or two, but not much more

There's also a relatively new tri shop in White Bear Lake.  I don't know if it's any good or not, but I talked with one of the owners at the bike swap this winter and she seemed pretty cool.  I'd be willing to be that they've got a few different things you could try.  http://www.trifitnesswbl.com/

Not sure what everyone considers "Metro Area" but there is also a place in Rogers called Gear and Training.  A friend of mine was just there and was very happy with the expierence.  I think they do more internet than in-store business though.

I have been in to the WBL TriFitness (see url in paddle2paddle's post above) 2x this year cause they are close. I haven't been to GearWest so I have nothing to compare them to, but they have a pretty good shoe selection, they are Orbea bike dealers and have a number of models on display and they have a handful of cycling and tri specific attire on hand and of course a fitting room to try stuff on...

Overall the people I have talked to there are friendly and helpful.

There is a running store on Shady Oak Road in Minnetonka just south of Crosstown/62 that had a decent selection of tri stuff. I was pleasantly suprised when I saw the stuff while getting fitted for new shoes, since I no longer need the Brooks Beasts anymore

The tri shop in downtown White BEar has a decent clothing selection--actually, as far as clothes go, they have just as much as Gear, IMO. Like all local shops, you will pay more than buying online, though.

It's all about Gear West, IMO.

Two other specialty stores are worth an honorable mention, though. For running, Start Line near Ridgedale has good selection and very knowledgeable staff. They also have the "in a pinch" things you may need for other legs of a race, too. I recently got swim goggles there before Buffalo.

Also, I'm a big fan of ExcelCycle in Excelsior for bike service and parts. Not tri-specific, but every employee in the shop knows their stuff. Everyone has a favorite LBS and that is mine.
