Comments:

Beautiful morning for the race slightly overcast which helped keep the temp down and also helped with being able to actually see the bouys. The lake was really smooth barely any waves and the water was pretty clear. I really felt bouyant in the water today body postitioning felt really good. Most difficulty came with the last 800m my mouth began to get really sticky which made it difficult to breathe for a bit then I managed to inhale a lung full of water. At first I tried to swim through it but realized I couldn't breath and was simply taking on more water...so this is what drowning feels like...so I stopped for a moment hacked up a lung and continued to push through it. Was a bit nervous after that and tried to be more careful about coming up for air. Overall much better swim than the first in the series. Shaved 2 minutes and 11 seconds off of my time from the last race and didn't feel like I was battling the whole time. Stayed more mentally strong.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a bit harder. I'm never sure how fast to start off and feels like everyone just zooms out and I spend the rest of the race trying to catch them. Maybe remember that I don't have to worry about biking or swimming afterwards I think that will really help me to give it everything I got.
Post race
Warm down:

walk up the hill to my bag...refueled with a mini muffin some pretzels and wheat thins and water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Taking on the water kind of shok me up a bit and slowed me down for a litle while before I convinced myself that the only way I was going to drown was if my heart stopped.

You win the RR sprint!

Good job. That's a long ways to swim without a wetsuit (or as I call it
a survival suit).

It's hard to learn to cough into the water.

Fantastic work! Your swimming is improving way too much for my comfort
when i share a lane.

GREAT SWIM Mel! That would be VERY scary to inhale that much water! Way to go on finishing STRONG and with a time improvement to boot!

Way to go Mel! You are really improving on the swim, especially pushing through inhaling water. Congrats!
