Pre-race routine:

Met up with some friends around 5:15 for the drive down from Northern ATL. I had coffee, power bar, water, watermelon, and a gel pack just prior to the swim start.
Event warmup:

Ran about 1/2 mile out on the run course and back. Then swam a bit.
Swim
  • 13m
  • 656 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not sure why my time wasn't faster. I felt good, and I think I navigated well. My effort was just right for a sprint.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

My zipper on my blue seventy must have gotten caught on some of the rubber because I could not get it unzipped for the life of me. I have never had trouble getting it off before. I stood in T1 contemplating biking with it on. I nearly ripped the cord off trying to get it down. FINALLY, it gave way after tugging and tugging. This definately cost me 2nd place. Oh well, transitions are part of the race too!
What would you do differently?:

Make sure BS zipper is nice and slippery.
Bike
  • 35m 35s
  • 13.4 miles
  • 22.59 mile/hr
Comments:

Biking is my strength, and I think I managed this about as well as I can.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

T2 was a little better. I decided to be a rebel and go sockless for once. That worked out fine.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Run
  • 22m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

I left T2 with my travelling partner and friend, Kris Kester - the overall female winner. I tried to stay with her, but I ended up about 50 yards back. It was good having her out there to chase. I just kept thinking about my track workouts and kept my HR at threshold which is just damn painful.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Mingling around and talking to friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing but my T1 performance.

Event comments:

I had a great time. Congrats to all!

Fast bike and nice OA! Congrats on your 3AG!

I thought this course was pretty darn hilly! Makes your bike split all the more impressive!
