Overall Rank = 325/500
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 61/73
Pre-race routine:

Had a half bagel and a half of slice of pizza before heading out.
Swim
  • 13m 25s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt pretty good about the swim. I got beat up pretty good and got kicked in the chin a couple of times, but overall it was a good swim. I drafted for a bit a few times...it was really the first time I tried to do this on purpose and it was interesting to "feel" the cavitation of the water on my fingertips.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Felt like this was a really bad transition. Getting the socks on took a lot longer than I wanted, and I never got my shoes strapped in properly. I practiced this a number of times the last few weeks, but it just didn't work well today.
Bike
  • 34m 16s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.26 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Went well.
What would you do differently?:

Take gloves off before entering T1
Run
  • 28m 51s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good about the run, although I should have drank a little more water and then I had to slow down a bit to allow my heart-rate to catch up. I was able to finish strong as I was trying to finish under 1:20.
What would you do differently?:

Not slow down.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing special.

Event comments:

This was a well organized and well run event. I thought that they had great food at the end (evrything from pizza to bagels, to fig newtons, and a wide assortment of drinks, including water, gaterade, and sodas. I particularly liked the variety for post-race. As for the race itself, I thought it was great and the organizers and volunteers were very friendly and informed. I will do this race again, and will probably going to another race these guys put on later in the summer.

Good job on your race, a bit more practice on the transitions and more miles of training, you'll be knocking down some faster times for sure.

See you at race down the road.
