If you were not running a half marathon for an all out best time, would you consider running one during the Tri racing season (for whatever reason: long training run, participate with friends, just because)?  Assume doing about one tri per month and being able to time the 1/2 mary to fall roughly between two races.

absolutely. i'm doing one, but i guess its really in Du season and technically not tri. i'm doing whiterock half mary in december, but i'll be building toward it during tri season. i've wanted to do one for a while, and i've feel i'll be ready for it by then.

Honestly, I could never do a race and not give it an all out effort. Why pay $20-30-40 for a training run - unless you need the t-shirtSmile

If the distance/ time of the race works for your training go for it.
