Swim
Comments: great start up to 200m then breathed in someones splash and choked badly for 20 seconds. Got back into stroke and did well for rest of swim. What would you do differently?: Leave a bit more room when overtaking and breath away from the person I am passing. Transition 1
Comments: Its a long 400m uphill to T1.Put shoes on in T1 and then ran with bike which worked well.took a bit of time to clip into pedals as trying to rush. What would you do differently?: practice having shoes clipped on to bike Bike
Comments: Not as fast as I hoped but not bad overall. struggled to keep speed up on the flat sections which surprised me. What would you do differently?: More bike training Transition 2
Comments: First race trying to remove shoes on bike and pleased with result. bit more practice will allow me to do it a touch closer to dismount as coasted a bit. Went sockless for first time this race and was great. talc in the shoes works. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: cramp in both calves after 500m was a bit of a shock but shortened stride and upped cadence and the downhill sorted it out. watched pace and tried to increase gradually over the 2 laps. sprint finish to make time target. Happy. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: stretching, fluids in and walking What limited your ability to perform faster: not enough miles on the bike and illness 2 weeks before race spoilt the taper but overall good Event comments: A 12 minute improvement over last year and target time achieved despite stopping watch by mistake after swim. Very pleased. Last updated: 2009-04-06 12:00 AM

arrived nice and early and watched the elites for inspiration. Got changed and took my stuff to transition. Had energy drink and bar and walked to swim start.
Jogging before I got set up in Transition and lots of stretching after I put wetsuit on. Got into water first and had 5 minutes gentle swimming to get used to the cold water and make sure goggles and suit comfy.
