[thought that might get your attention !]

I went to my LBS to test ride the Felt S32 -- they have my size, 48, and it's in my price range and well, she's a beautiful bike.

With my Trek 1500, I have to put a little pressure on the brakes to stop.

Not so much with the Felt.

I put on way too much pressure and went head-over-handlebars in the cement (I was still in the parking lot, fortunantly).

A police officer I know from my job was at the LBS and he drove me to the hospital (AND got me in through the ambulance entrance - no wait -- wooo!)... held my hand when I got my chin stiched up AND my tetanus shot -- and I HATE HATE HATE needles.

not going to lie ... I kind of look like a badass

Oh no!  The police office sounds really nice.

If it makes you feel better, I went to test ride mountain bikes and they told me to jump up the curbs, etc, in the parking lot.  Went ok the first few times.  Then, I hit the curb, the bike stopped, and I fell on the concrete.  Split my lip and the spot between your nose and upper lip.  Didn't get stitches, but I did have to walk back in covered with blood.

I thought you were getting a bike from Craigs list.

Bummer about the spill.

I had similar experience as my tri bike's brake needed replacing so rode my road bike and wow I could stop fast.....didn't spill though..did replace brake pads on tri bike.

The shark move here is to go back to the LBS and ask if they have any scratch and dent Felt S32s at a discount.

This thread is useless without pictures!!!Wink  What's a good bike wreck (especially when it's not even YOUR bike) story without a picture?!?!!?  (Especially when the teller makes statments like: "I kind of look like a badass")

x3. Also a good opportunity to start working on your "how I got this scar" story. Bar fight? Shark attack? Land mine? The world is your oyster, but don't settle for "I fell off a bicycle in a parking lot."
