Subject: RE: What to do in Bellevue, near Seattle? Hey there--
Microsoft's campus is in Redmond. Having moved from Redmond to San Diego last fall, I can assure you that it is not exactly the most happening place. However, there is a great bike trail called the Sammamish River Trail that is only a couple of minutes away from Microsoft. If you can get a ride from someone over to Redmond Cycle (5 min drive from main campus ), you can rent a bike and they'll direct you to the trail. Unfortunately, they only rent hybrids, but you aren't going to find anyone that rents road bikes in the 'burbs. I know, I tried to do it before buying my Trek.
Bellevue's not too bad, depending on what you are used to. If your hotel is in downton Bellevue, you'll be an easy walk from quite a few restaurants and bars.
Personally, I would suggest getting hooked up with an Enterprise Rent-a-Car mid-week deal. It is only 10 bucks a day and they'd be more than happy to pick you up at Microsoft's main campus---there are two Enterprise branches within ten minutes of campus. That way you can make the short hop into Seattle without paying an exhorbitant cab fare.
