Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 21m 55s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 25/46
Pre-race routine:

Figured I could finish it sub 1:30. Simply shot a Gu and kept going.
Event warmup:

Quick warmup swim to loosen up. Then a little jumping around to stay warm as the rain started.
Swim
  • 05m 7s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Plowed through the swim. Set myself up w/ a very conservative swim time, and passed numerous throughout. Fantastic.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

Slow T1 due to rain. Wet and slick. Bike shoes were FULL of water.
Bike
  • 46m 10s
  • 13 miles
  • 16.90 mile/hr
Comments:

Course was riddled with debris from last nights storm. Lots of riders on the side of the road with slipped gears, dropped chaings, and flat tires. Slick roads made for some tough cornering and wet conditions. Rain pelted and felt like sand as it hit.

Lots of blocking going on, but nothing to do about it.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

No T2 time. Seems that it was either combined with T1, or lumped with the bike.

It was still slow. Poured water out of the running shoes.
Run
  • 28m 3s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. Speed work for the last few runs has helped. Improved by 30sec per mile and set a new PR for the 3mi. Matter of fact, it's a stand alone record as well
What would you do differently?:

Run harder. I had more in the tank on that last mile. The uphill getting to it had me reserving some.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed water, cleared my gear from transition, and left. Tried to outrun the storm.

Noticed drop of 3lbs in weight.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Rain, wind and weather.

Event comments:

Rain really dampered this race.

Good job. It rained at this race last year. Made those downhill sections very interesting. I noticed  a lot fast swim times in the results. Maybe a little short???

Yea it was definately short. The far bouy kept moving with the winds, so the director told us to skip it. We cut it off and had to improvise the course.

The kayakers kept moving it back, and the wind kept pushing it down the lake. No point in fighting it.

So yea, the course was shortened by some amount...

Nice race, man that weather sucked.  But it quit right as we were getting in the truck to go.
