did it last year, not bad at all. just make sure to leave enough time to walk from where you park your car to the transition because it is about a mile or so walk to it.

I did it three years ago.  It is a nice race.  The only two complaints that I have are

1) The rode was terrible for biking - I have heard it has since been repaved so this might not be an issue

2) The parking lot is about a mile away from Transition\Start\Finish\Post Race fun.  While we can ride that easily, if you have family with you it is a hike for them.

Otherwise I think it was a very well run race and there was good crowd support and a nice BBQ afterwards.  The lake is warm by then (hopefully it gets nice in Chicago this year), the bike course if flat, the run is a nice out and back.  The run has a little shade once you get out of the harbor area.  Overall it's a good race.

My wife, mother in law, and I are doing it. My wife has done done it twice before. This will be my first triathlon, so I'm really excited for it. I've watched her do the race twice, so I'm pretty familiar with it, just not as a participant. I can't wait!

This will be my 3rd time in. Harbor Lights was my first ever two years ago - went back last year and once again this year. Nice because it's less than a 10 minute drive from home!

As mentioned - the roads have been repaved - so are much better - at least the Amstutz Expressway (which is where the Batmobile scenes from Batman begins was filmed) - the access roads leading to the Amstutz are still access roads!

My 14 year old son is racing his first sprint distance on Sunday - starts in Wave I - 15 minutes ahead of me. My goal is to catch him on the bike (though I may catch him in T1 - he has challenges getting the wetsuit off!)

How did everybody do?  I ended up going 1:24:39.  Those access roads were some of the worse roads I have ever ridden on.  I lost my spare tube and tire tools out of my xLab and they were Velcroed in, that is crazy.  Glad it was nice and cool for the run.  Congrats to everybody that partipcated.

Right behind you - 1:29:13 - which is a 24 minute improvement over 2 years ago (amazing what some training will do:-)

Living in Northern Illinois, I've ridden worse roads - although none during a race. At least the Amstutz was in relatively good shape.

And - I did catch my son during the run - he finished in 1:45:38 - so with his 15 minute start ahead of me - I crossed the finish line 1:25 in front of him - which meant the official photog was able to get a pic of the two of us right after he crossed the line.

13 days to Steelhead 70.3!

Happy Birthday. That bike course was beyond nasty, I slowed down to a crawl to get through the pot holes and cracks. I was happy somewhat with my time 1:27:22.

That is awesome.  Congrats on a big PR and that is so cool you got to finish with your son.

Congrats guys.  This was both my wife and I's first triathlon.  I came in at 1:30:58 and my wife came in at 1:36:35.  We both had a blast and I definitely have the bug, either doing the Napperville or the Bangs Lake in August and we are already sighned up for the Chicago International.

I caught the bug with Harbor Lights in 2007 - and today was my 13th! Haven't been able to get my wife to catch the bug - but with my son competing - I have a built-in excuse -

"But honey - I'm spending time with the boy!"

I did 1:26:02. I'm pretty happy for my first tri. Going in wave 1 of my first tri was a little intimidating, but at least I didn't really even have time to get too nervous. I'm looking forward to Chicago now.

Hey all - it was a fun race!  I enjoyed the swim immensely, didn't get kicked once even!

Overall I did a 1:50:03 - I'll take that for now :-)

(I was not pleased with the beg/end of the bike course, that was just dangerous!)
