I'm still constantly messing with the dang zipper pull (the long piece of thick string attached to the rear zipper) on my wetsuit. I've got an Xterra Vortex 3 - it's a pretty simple model, meaning that the only velcro attachment is at the neck (not the lower back). I've been nestling the zipper pull thread into this velcro area, but it's still long enough folded over that I notice it when I'm swimming. What's the best way to get this zipper pull string clear out of the way?

Wrap it around your hand and put the loops around the loose flap that velcros at the top of the zipper. Then you have about a 5-6" set of loops to find when you get out of the water.

Is this what everyone does? Just wondering - I'll definitely give that approach a try, though.

I attach mine up at the top with the little velcro on the end of the string. (I have the same wetsuit)  I've never even noticed it when swimming - so I can't help.  I'm sorry...

Have you tried just leaving it hanging?  (I didn't even know it had velcro on it until yesterday ... *laughing*)

I usually leave mine loose, and I've never noticed it.

I don't understand.  If you're taking the end of the strap and sticking it to the velcro at the back of your neck, how can you notice it when you're swimming?  It can be hard enough for me just to find it when I'm running out of the water.  If it were any more out of the way, I'd be like a dog chasing it's tail trying to find it.

I tie mine to my goggles strap.

When I'm exiting the swim and I take my goggles off, the strap is right there so I can just keep pulling down to unzip my wetsuit. Works like a charm.

Also, in the UNLIKELY event they ever get kicked off during the swim, I don't lose them.

I leave mine hanging.  Zero problems.

If I leave the zipper pull unattached, it strangely flails around near my ear. It gets really annoying after awhile. I've got a Vortex 3. Even when I pull it back up to the neck velcro area , it' s long enough that it flaps around near my ear. Perhaps I've got a flaw in my form that's making it do this. I'll try bunching it up some, but right now, it's kind of annoying to swim with this string flapping around from time to time over my shoulder.

My wetsuit has a little piece of velco near the bottom of the zipper, and a small piece of velcro on the cord.  Could you do the same thing using a very small piece of stick-on velcro?  I really like this ~ when I was renting wetsuits, the cord would always end up in my face while swimming.  No problem on this suit (a Zoot sleeveless model).

I think I realized why I'm having problems - it's when I'm coming in from the beach surf - the waves push the zipper pull in front of my head and it gets in the way. I don't have the problem going out into the waves.
