Figured 17 weeks out is as good a time as any to start the thread.

This'll be my first marathon so I'm really excited for it. Who else is planning on running it?

This will be my 6th time participating in it.  It was my first attempt ('04) and first finish ('05).  I've just made it a tradition to run in it every year.

Was thinking of maybe doing the half-marathon. I can't commit right now though. I wonder when this will sell out.

I'm going to say fairly soon considering that summer is almost 1/2 way over.  Training begins soon for me.  I'm doing the 1/2 and should hopefully have better results than last time.

I'm signed up.  I did the half in '05 and spectated '06-'08.  This year I decided to run instead of just watch.  :-)

I'm not running this year but I've run the half a couple times and the marathon was my first.

It's my hometown so I'm partial, but it's a great race

B'more is a great race, though be prepared for hills!  This will be my 4th year in a row running the full.

Plan on running the 1/2 this year. Love this race as it was my first 2004 and my first finish in 2005 (and my last attempt). Getting ready for the NCR marathon this thanksgiving and will give me a clue as to how things are progressing.

As part of my NCR training I paced a friend at B-More to a 3:57.  It was a great workout for me without taxing the system and I recovered well enough to BQ at NCR.

Those of you who are experienced marathoners.... do you wear a fuel belt?  What will you use for fluid and fuel?  and at about what mileage do you think you will use it?  I am going to do my long training runs using a fuel belt with water, another beverage, and probably gu gels.  Thanks for the advice since this will be my first full marathon.

Hey Fellow Terp

I wear fuel belts for long runs but never for races -- at big races especially there are rest stations every 1-2 miles.  I think Baltimore uses Gatorde on the course but I would double check.  As for GUs - if you have a particular flavor you really like I would carry that.  For marathons I normally have a GU every 6 mi and alternate gatorde and water at the stations

I'm in for the full marathon this year!  This will be my first full.  I've heard about the hills, and luckily where I live there are plenty of them to train on.  I've already begun my training plan, just started my 4th week.  I only have 1 triathlon left, then it's complete focus on the running.  I can't wait for it!

I too will be running NCR this fall (not B-more as prep) if I don't get talked into a JFK 50 attempt.

The only time I wear a fuel belt is when the course is serving something really nasty, like Accelerade.  Yuck.  I just can't stomach that.  B'more serve Gatoarade or Gade Endurance (Go Gators!) so it shouldn't be a problem.  Course support at B'more is fantastic.  I do wear a race belt with a gel or two, and a small package of Endurolytes.

Registered for the half.  4th year for me, love the event the spectators are incredible.  The brothers on Guilford St that supply gummy bears every year are great.  Hoping the modified wave start will help thin out the crowds.  They added two more corals this year for a total of 5.  Plenty of fluid stations on the course along with a food station a little more than half way through.  Can be hilly and last year it was hot and windy.  The 9:45 start time doesn't help but Corrigan overall takes good care of their runners.  Love the two free beers at the end.  You will enjoy it.

Anyone else participating in the practice run on September 19th?  I think I'm going to.  I need to get a taste of what these hills on the course feel like.

I'm planning on going to get a gist on the course (again even though its my 3rd year) and force myself to go out and run that 12 miles.
