Triangle Triathlon Course-Group ride

Expert  1342    Apex, NC |  Subject: Triangle Triathlon Course-Group rideSeveral of the "locals" have expressed interest in a pre-ride of the Triangle Sprint Triathlon course. I've ridden it a couple of times, and it is a fun course. I plan to ride again next week, and would like to get in a run afterwards (can we say "brick"?) |

It's a 1 hour drive, coming from Chapel Hill :-( I'd like to do it on a Saturday, tho, maybe starting from the sneaky swim spot at the lake and meeting up with you guys or something. The following Saturday we'll be away on vacation. The next Saturday after that is 7/11. I can only do midweeks at this point, unless I can con a friend into watching my kiddos next Saturday. 6/26. I'll see if that's an option. 7/4, I WILL be climbing hills, NC mountain style !  |

Except that they are teenagers, all three of them - ACK! I don't want to ride the day before the race (July 11th). Better to rest that day! The Sat before that is the 4th of July, and I will probably do the Carrboro 4 on the 4th running race that day. So, that really only leaves next Saturday, June 27th, open for me. I'd love to do this but I don't think I can make any of the late afternoon slots- between taking my son to swim team, T-ball and relieving my wife of kid duty, those slots get sucked up quickly. All- I did not ride the course yesterday-rode a 25-mile route with a friend instead. I am still planning to brick the course tomorrow, if anyone is interested in riding it. Master 1741 Chapel Hill, NC | Subject: RE: Triangle Triathlon Course-Group ride Tomorrow am (saturday, June 26) I am going to do a 55 mile bike ride from sneak swim spot out to do the Triangle course, then back. Pace about 17mph, give or take. Then top it off with a 5k brick run (hilly). Here is the route I plotted out. Gotta be careful on Hwy 55, but it short, its got a steep down hill ollowed by a steep uphill. I was a little uncomfortable with the traffic without race volunteers. Avent Ferry is preety cool too. I averaged 19.8 mph without trying to rip it up. Just trying to learn the route. The run route got me confused. I finally found the part I was missing. It is off road! End it up only doing half of it, but adding other road work for 4 miles. I will probably want to do it again at the end of the week. Doug |

It got a little toasty out there today!The run route got me confused. I finally found the part I was missing. It is off road! End it up only doing half of it, but adding other road work for 4 miles.
