Subject: Double Ironman Training?
I posted this question in the Iron Distance Forum, but haven't received any response....probably because everyone feels the same way as my wife!

I can't believe I am asking this question:

Where does one find a training plan for a Double Ironman?

There are probably not a ton of people that do them.  I would guess that since your intensity in the distance will not be near the top end that you could prepare adequately by doing some 150-180 bikes, probably get yourself ready for the run by getting to where you are able to do a 26-30 mile run and recover and swimming, well, i am not a swimmer but would guess if you are strong enough there say around a 2 hour swim or so would be adequate as far as peaking.  Its going to be about being efficient vs hammering out the paces on race day.  Methinks sprinkle in a steady diet of 2.5-3 hour rides on the weekdays and 90-120 minute runs.  I am just guessing here, but this is probably how I would proceed.

Asked fellow BTers madcow and grbfrog who did double and triple iron distance races in 2006/7.
I believe there was another BTer who did the double in the same year but I forgot his name.

ditto...  or some form of coaching,, you might end up getting advice from ultra bikers and runners then hodge podging a plan together off that info

x2

I had a coach when I did my 2 Ironman races in 1 week and that's not as hard as what you're thinking about doing.

Ask them.

Honestly, very few people do these... and seeing that this is BEGINNER TRIATHLETE... there aren't a whole lotta people just hanging out here who readily have training plans for that kind of distance.

Otherwise, get a coach.
