I wanted to add that for those that haven't run the PRR that the course is really pretty good. My 3rd fastest 10k ever is from this course and I wasn't even going all out that day. First half is down hill pretty much and the 2nd half has a good bit of uphill but then you roll (mostly down) to a fast finish that last mile. And if you have run the half on Thanksgiving this will feel like a piece of cake.

This year you're BACK to a downhill finish - yeah!  Last year's uphill finish just about ruined the whole race IMHO!

TG 1B.

Due to a hamstring injury I have just started back running and have only done 3 miles at a time in the last 3 or so weeks.  Think it's been about 5 wees or so since I have done 6.

SO, I'm happy to just be able to participate and will be glad if I end up running the whole thing hills and all!

TG 1B...perhaps running/jogging/walking? with Karen and Lisa...or perhaps I'll crawl pubs with $ and GCorn

Due to the hip situation, this might be my last PRR and with virtually no running under my belt since last year, no time goal...just going to soak in the entire course and share the joy with all of the people lining it.

Let's hook up - sounds like we'll be the same pace!

Tips for those wanting to have fun or do the pub crawl:

Last year in the last mile I found someone handing out PBR's that I drank that last mile and crossed the finish with. I hate PBR but it was ice cold and tasted great!

Since I wasn't racing it last year I also collected lots of swag that was being tossed out.I got an extra shirt, 2 ball caps, some mardi gras beads and free beer .

And lastly, bring a throw away camera-- there is always good picture taking during the Peachtree.

So, Nat, sounds like what you're saying is "he/she who crosses the PRR Finish line with the most swag around neck/on body, most beer in the belly, and documentation of same is the REAL winner."  I like this idea and believe I'm up to this challenge this year...thanks for the idea.

EXACTLY! If you can't run a sub 30 (male)/sub 35(female) 10k or get the coveted top 1000 mug (sub44)  you gotta find some way to "win" at the Peachtree! I think this would be even better Lou if you wore costume. Let me know if you want to borrow my Santa's helper outfit. :0

Nat, I'm not sure anybody could pull off that outfit quite as well as you...this said, an outfit might be something to consider...

Now that would make for a good pic at the finish line- coming in with a tall boy PBR. I'm going to keep a look out for those handouts...

ATLrunr- if you have a seeded number, you will have not problem getting going right from the beginning. Crowding will be pretty minimal and within 100 - 200 yds you should be running as fast as you want/can go without being impeeded. So you could easily go for it.
You will fly along the 1st 2.8 miles before you hit the hills. I always run a fast 1st half and then try to just 'hang on' for the 2nd 1/2.

Like Nat said- it can be a fast course- from my experience as well- I've gotten within 20seconds from my PR- but that year was '07 and it was the coolest its been in 20years... The humidity/heat makes more of a difference than the hills IMO in this race. (granted- I do a lot of hill work in my running...)

1b and I'm just hoping to finish in under an hour, but will probably fade the last half and be over.  I hope the shirt design I voted for won, that will make it all worth it for me.

Ok seriously, how did I end up in Corral 8?!  Am I that slow?  This is my first time, so I have no idea how fast I'll be able to run with that many people in front of me.  I'm really just getting the shirt for my Mom.

When you signed up did you click "Casual Runner/Walker".  If you clicked that they put you towards the back.  I am a casual runner but I didn't sign it because I didn't want to be towards the back with the walkers.

I'm in T4 but my goal is to catch a Kenyan.  I think I can hang for the first 20ft if I go into a full sprint.

TriNole - 2009-06-27 2:45 PM TG 9 - YAY! Screwed by active.com AGAIN!!!

The first year the wife and I ran the Peachtree we were in the TG 9.  I remember everyone was pushing to be near the front as the race approached and I was thinking "why push to the front?  There are 40,000 people in front of us!"  When TG9 started we looked back up Peachtree and it was covered in paper cups and the Rangers were in formation coming towards us chanting.  It was the coolest thing I've ever seen at the Peachtree.  Then we started "running."  I've never dodged folks like that in my life.

Time Group 1A - hoping to run sub 45:00.   Last year I made the top 1000 for the first time and got the mug with a 45:45 clock time (45:14 chip), good for 950th.  I think the tougher finish last year helped my cause because hills don't bother me as much as most.

With the replaced downhill finish this year, that time probably won't be fast enough - somewhere in the 44s should do it depending on the weather.

TG 1B -- and I hope to finish with a qualifying time for next year.  The hills kill me though -- it's hard to find hills to train on in FL.

Did Natalie post about remembering to bring your ID and $10?   There is a huge after-party at the Park Tavern.  They have lots of cold frosty beverages.

Whoever finishes first (sounds like Brett, Nat, Doug, Alltom, Kevin, Jonathan and Eric) is in charge of finding a good table on the porch in the shade.  The rest of us will be along as soon as possible. : )

Did somebody say beer?

Park Tavern is having their party again, but this time it looks like they are doing drink tickets instead of all you can drink.  We need to snag tables, but no where near that dork we had to put up with last year.  I'm sure Natalie has a picture of the fella.

I love Park Tavern!  But that reminded me of something.  I plan to hop on Marta and take it to the race instead of trying to find parking near the race.  I use a safety pen for my keys and attach it to my pocket, but don't know what to do about my ID, cash, and a cell phone.  Is there something out there where I can put my Cell/ID/Cash so that later on I can meet up with some friends who are in various TGs?

Also I heard Boortz talking about people who jump in the race later on with their numbers (he claimed around Piedmont Hospital) just so they can grab a T-shirt without doing the full 10k.  Are people really that shallow???  Though he said that he hopes the use of time chips this year will cause those people to not get a T-shirt.

I don't know how to post photos on this board (not that tech savvy, maybe Bill can help a blond out here) but here are my blogs from 2007 and 2008 for nostalgia and to see Bob and his "tiny number"-- the "fella" Doug is talking about (see 2008 blog).

TG3 and treating this as a fun run with the wife.  This is her first 10k and i'm looking to soak it all in with her.  This will be a major accomplishment for her as she continues her training for her first tri later in the year.

TG 1A here but may end up in the back of the pack if my wife decides to run.  If she doesn't run I am shooting for somewhere between high 42s to 43s.  Hope everyone has a great race
