The family and I will probably be down there tonight too.

Oh how I miss these games. We took the gold three years ago in the team triathlon category. It's a really cool medal actually. My one and only first-place tri finish.

That was a fun event!

The water was not nearly as nasty as everyone made it out to be. Some weeds at the start/finish, and one dead fish on the shore. Other than that, it was all good for me.

Bike had hills, but not big hills. For the Lincoln people they might seem big...but one ride in Iowa and you will know they aren't.

Run on the gravel was good. Nice to have a course that is not on cement!

Yes, hills anywhere west of the Platte River Valley (except maybe a few north of Lincoln) are just slight rises in elevation. I had a couple people tell me I would be doing multiple gear changes up the "climbs"??? After I spun my Saturday morning ride out of my legs, I think I used three gears, all in the big chainring.

I think the city dredged the pond a few years ago and I'm sure the unseasonably mild temps also kept the pond from "turning over". I was expecting much worse but was hoping the cool temps had kept it descent. Great event!

Had blast at this one! The water was much better than I expected. Call me a wennie but I thought the "hills" kind of sucked! :-) Maybe I am spoiled because I just don't ride any hills around the trails by my house. The run was pretty nice overall too. Already planning on doing this again next year.

They posted almost 3000 pics of the event online and they have several pics of every competitor, even if you don't plan on buying any they are neat to look at!

The guy taking the finish line shots is a friend of mine. I guess he took some of the bike shots as well.

Great event.  I wish they would pull the extra buoys from the open water swim so as not to create confusion; use swim caps that aren't the same color as the buoys since this made sighting difficult; have a "relaxed start" for first time triathletes to help reduce the anxiety and cluster-mess of fast/slow swimmers; keep the bike route out on the roads for each lap and only enter the park after the 3rd lap and going back to T2; and rope off the course near the finish line and transition area so that spectators don't cross the route.

A cyclist bit the dust and went to the hospital when a child walked out in front - ouch.  

I was very pleased by the record turn-out.  The sport is growing in Nebraska.  Maybe they will offer an Oly distance in addition to the sprint.

  

I liked comming down the "pipeline" through the park on each lap. It kept the spectators all together and made for a great race atmosphere. I usually prefer out and back courses, but at least with this I got a boost from the crowd each lap. Sorry to hear about the guy who crashed, maybe the anouncer could make periodic statements about staying clear of the course?

I also think they tried to help too much with all the buoys in the water, I like to "keep it simple stupid." (just put a buoy at each turn.) if you miss it or go off course, well... tough.

I was very impressed with the number of rescue craft and life guards. even with that number of competitors they were still able to keep a close watch for problems.

The water station on the run was placed perfectly. in my previous race it was at the turn, thus only hitting it once.  A second shot of water did me good during this race.

One final thought: I would love to see them add a Oly to next years state games.
