Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6:00AM. Had cereal for breakfast and took off to Anderson... 50 minute drive.
Event warmup:

Just got the gear, double checked the bike... Figured that I can use the first 5 miles for warm-up. This is a ride... not a race! :)

  • 15.14 mile/hr
Comments:

The ride had a 25, 40 and 62 mile option. For the first 13 miles, all of us were riding together. After the split, I suddenly was completely on my own and that stayed that way until mile 52 or so, when I caught up with a group on the last rest stop. From the support vehicle, I heard that there were round about ten people behind me, but I didn't feel like waiting around for them and just enjoyed being out on the road.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This was a good ride. I am glad I didn't push myself at the beginning, so I felt pretty good basically throughout the ride.
Post race
Warm down:

Put the bike on the rack, stretched some, good the hot dog lunch that was included and then stretched some more.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was planning on riding a 15mph average, so I think I am good to go! :)

Event comments:

This was a very well organized ride. The volunteers made sure that we were hydrated and fed well. The only thing that I would like them to for next year... Start the ride earlier. 8:30AM is too late for temperatures like today.

Good job Kat

Even if it was just a ride as you said, it was still a 100km. This is one long ride
