alfonso34 - 2009-07-01 2:14 PM it's got to be my bikesdirect.com motobecane grant spritn road bike. it has ultegra components and it has carried me 15K miles, but i feel like i need an expensive bike!

I know a really good home that would do it justice and you'd get a nice spot in your garage for a new expensive bike! Lemme send you my address...

A two-year-old pair of Brooks Adrenaline 6's.  Best shoes I've ever run in.

I had three pairs and I've hung onto the least worn out of them just to race in.  I've got a couple pairs of Adrenaline 8's and recently bought a pair of 9's and they just aren't the same (really don't like the 9's in particular).

I am wearing right now, a no-name digitital watch that is 6 minutes fast (buttons don't work). It only keeps time, no timers or anything like that.  My HRM watch broke and am waiting for an online deal before replacing it. I plan on doing some heavy biking and swimming this weekend and don't want to wear my jewelry watch.

My aerobars.  They're the flip up kind, and the spring on one of the pads is broken so that pad is down permanently, but jiggles around when I'm riding.  I feel sorry for anybody I'm riding with on a bumpy road, because it's really noisy.

I have those same ones! I think the rattling makes me go faster because I want to get to the end of the ride to make it stop! My road shoes need to go. They're worn pretty thin where the upper meets the sole.

that happened to me on my old bike - with those same bars.  there is this stuff called 'duct tape' that you can apply on the levers holding the pads. . then they are permanently down on your bars w/o rattling

Same thing happened to mine, but I used a small bungy cord to hold them up when I'm not using them.  Unfortunately after a year of that the bungy must have been too strong or something and the aluminum where the little pin is at the hinge point finally fatigued too much and snapped, fell off while I was on the hoods.  But the bunge cord held it long enough for me to grab it and put it into a back pocket to take home.

I haven't been tri-ing long so my tri equip. is in pretty good shape.  However, my very favorite goggles, Speedo Sprints, are totally worn out.  I actually don't use them anymore - have replaced them with a pair I don't like as much - but keep them in my bag as backups.  I've had them since probably the late 90's.

tkd.teacher - 2009-06-30 3:49 PM 1. Bike helmet - It's circa 2000, kicked around in my car in the Phoenix sun for a couple summers, and been in one crash.

They're good for one impact.  You're living life on the edge, just sayin'

2. Bike shoes - Also circa 2000, and the upper is separating from the sole slightly in the toe box of one of them.

I have a pair that did this.  Shoe-goo has reunited the sole with the upper and I wear them on the trainer mostly.

3. Trainer - Pain in the tookus to get on and off since the handle is broken.

John

I"m pretty happy with the stuff I have now.  I plan to replace/add a little bit each year and I'm pretty sure I'll have some running shorts relegated to "backup" status soon.

Same here! I LOVED the Brooks Adrenaline 6's, the 8's were ok, but the 9's just don't feel quite as good. I train in the 9's and I am going to do my next race in my 6 (it has about 300 miles on them).

I have been in two bad crashes, the helmet was not a factor in one, and it SAVED MY LIFE in the other. I hit the pavement when my tire got stuck in the gap between the road and side walk, I was going about 20 mph on my mountain bike and flew off head first. My helmet took 100% of the impact. You can see where I hit the pavement in the front and follow the fracture lines where the helmet split in half in the back, exactly like they are designed. It was a mid price Bell helmet that I got from Performance for about $50. Like one of the other posters said, you just testing your luck, helmets are a one crash item.

I am officially off my soap!

My old laptop that I use to surf BT when downstairs.  Yes, it gets more usage than any of my tri equipment during the week.  It's a model that is about 9 years old, and I picked it up for like $30 on eBay a few years ago, but it keeps plugging away running Ubuntu.  Hard to justify replacing it.

Eh, I have a lot of old stuff...but nothing worth replacing right now. If I did, I'd say my shoes. My bike shoes (not MTB) are seriously disgusting. They are eight different colors from being a bunch of crashes, the velcro is pulling away from the straps, they reek like stanky doritos (they never used to, this is a recent thing), they flex more than is probably good for me, and, well...they are...schmarmy. (If you've ever felt "schmarmy" shoes, you'll know what I mean. Almost 8 years of sockless riding and racing = schmarmy.)

BUT they are SPDs (2 hole cleats), and I love them...and I don't want to buy new shoes, mess with an adaptor, etc etc. So I cling to them like a rat on a sinking ship :p

A couple of sports bras are in bad shape... getting a worn and frayed but not so much that anything is getting loose

My favorite running baseball cap. It sits low (covers my head to just above ears) which I love and is hard to come by. It's totally fading from sun and sweat baths...looks crappy even after washed.

A pair of Birkie sandals...they STINK! - really. But I douse them with some fabric freshener spray and they are good to go.

I need road shoes. The only riding shoes I have are my 13 year old mountain biking shoes. They so need to be replaced.

My running shoes. They are SO old! I think they are part of the reason why my legs cramp up when I run sometimes.

My swim suit is getting pretty old too.
