I think we normally go for about 30-45min. I guessed it was about 1500-2000. The path we swim along is great to pull over and take a break or even turn back a bit early. I was pretty intimidated the first time I THOUGHT about going out, but once I got out there it was a breeze.

swimcoachAT - 2009-07-09 11:14 AM Hi,

This would be my first group training thing to join in on...  I'm supposed to do a long run later in the day so I'll probably skip the bike afterward, but I'm always up for a good morning swim.  What kind of distance, just out of curiosity?  I think I might just give it a go.

Agree with Brandon - not looking for a long OWS (30-45 minutes is great), just something to get the wetsuit on and get a taste of open water (for me - literally!) after a lot of pool time.  For me, it's a tune up OWS for Mountain Man.

It looks like Dean and I will be out there. We'll be leaving the house at 4 a.m. to make the 5:30 a.m. swim, so if you see a body floating in the water, it will probably be me taking a nap!

Or me.  Not napping.  Just dead.

You'll be able to tell the difference because my floating dead corpse will be a lot bigger than Kim's napping body.

Here's what my training plan says for Saturday:
2h 30m bike
15 min run (brick)

1h 20m / 4000m swim (apparently later in the day)

I will NOT be doing 4000m on Saturday, but it gives me a little giggle to think that to begin my HIM taper, I'm supposed to do twice the swim distance the week before the race. Who the heck writes these things? (It's one of the BT HIM training plans).

Instead, on Saturday I'll do the 30-45 minute swim that Brian's suggesting, followed by 2 hours or so on the bike and a 15 minute run.

And I am also doing the Chino Valley triathlon on Sunday (but it's an itty bitty tri -- 300m/15mi/3mi). So two tri's in one weekend, the weekend before Vineman! I think I'll sleep in on Monday!

I will be at the swim with you all, but will bike/run back at home as i have to do an easy bike brick with the run and L. pleasant bike loops are not zone 1 for me (I think only Dean could pull that off!)

It always starts this way but never seems to end like this.  I forgot we had no beer after the workout so I don't know why I was happy.

I would like to come out 7/17 if you dont mind a total newbie! I probably wont swim very far because I am trying to rest up for Mountain Man. Are you meeting at the same location they did last week (northwest boat launch)?
