Amusing, IMO.

Anything to get in the news?

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/07/01/palin-confident-she-can-outrun-obama-2/

Palin says she has the endurance to beat President Obama in a road race.

(CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is confident Barack Obama can be beaten — in a long distance run.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate told Runner's World Magazine if it came down to a foot race between the two famous politicians, she'd likely come out on top.

"I betcha I'd have more endurance," Palin said in an interview published on the magazine's Web site Tuesday. "My one claim to fame in my own little internal running circle is a sub-four marathon. It wasn't necessarily a good running time, but it proves I have the endurance within me to at least gut it out and that is something.

"If you ever talk to my old coaches they'd tell you, too," she continued. "What I lacked in physical strength or skill I made up for in determination and endurance. So if [it] were a long race that required a lot of endurance I'd win."

The avid runner also revealed an accident she had only days before the vice presidential debate last fall, when she fell on a trail while jogging at Sen. John McCain's Arizona ranch.

"I was so stinkin' embarrassed that a golf cart full of Secret Service guys had to pull up beside me," she said of the fall. "My hands just got torn up and I was dripping blood. In the debate you could see a big fat ugly Band-Aid on my right hand."

Declaring "sweat is my sanity," Palin also said some of her worst days on the campaign trail were those when McCain staffers did not schedule time for her to run.

"I feel so crappy if I go more than a few days without running. I have to run," she said. "A great frustration I had during the campaign was when the McCain staff wouldn't carve out time for me to go for a run. The days never went as well if I couldn't get out there and sweat."

And the bands that keep her going on the long runs? Palin said she kicks off with "old Van Halen and AC/DC" before going into country and ending with "mellow Amy Grant songs."

Just so people know I am fair & balanced - I am not a fan of hers.

I wish she would fade away and the Republicans can get someone with substance in the forefront.

I guess this is her plan.  To pop her head up once every week or two for the next 3 years, in hopes her relevancy has the same endurance.  By the way, I think it's the 'mellow Amy Grant' that is making her feel crappy, not the lack of running.

Why doesn't she just go away.

I've voted Repub. all my life (and am a card carrying one) but I didn't for the election because of her.  I went for Nader instead .......

Would I kick her out of bed?  Probably not ....... as long as she kept her mouth shut.

I don't get the hostility. She is a runner, we all have known that, and a running magazine who in that past have done fluff interviews about running with personalities just happend to
do a fluff interview about running with a personality.

With Obama's smokng habits, I sure Sarah could kick is tail in a road race.

X2 it is incredible to me you have a President of the United States that has taken over 2 American Automakers, Exerted massive Federal control on our banking industry, is pushing a huge tax plan (cap and trade) Siding with the Iranian Islamic extremists, Siding with an overthrown President in Honduras who was in violation of the Honduran Constitution and is now on the verge of taking control of the best heath care system in the world, but as least he plans on ALLOWING us to keep our own Dr.  So it only makes sense for the fine athletes here on BT to belittle a governor who is a runner and is interviewed by a RUNNING magazine.

For those of you on the conservative side that would like her to fade away, you might want to start voicing your opinion to guys like Kristol because they're trying to pump her up for a '12 bid. There's a scatching Vanity Fair article that sheds light into what goes on behind the scenes with her, and the article has set off a whole series of infighting amongst GOP heavyweights. Now would be the time to strike if you're looking to sway your party to abandon her as a candidate. If nothing else, read the article. It's pretty fascinating.

and yet in spite of all that, most people would rather he was in office and not her. Myself included and I didn't vote for him, nor do I approve of what he is doing.

It's pretty much the same response that would be given from the "other" side if it was about Pelosi or Reed.

Didn't Obama work out (strength training) pretty much every day on the trail (and I would guess he does as much as possible now)? Plus, sounds like he's a pretty good basketball player. I don't know if he could run a marathon or not, but lo and behold, there ARE other ways to be fit and active besides running.

Besides, Michelle could take her down in one punch - have you seen her guns? (and I don't mean Palin's bullet-firing things)
