Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 6ish, had some coffee, couple eggs and some toast
Event warmup:

Ran a mile with 4 strides.

Comments:

Tried this without the garmin, just a regular watch to keep my time so I had no idea how fast or slow I was going.

Fun race, there is a handicaping system based on age and gender, so the 86 year old guy started first, my AG started almost 18 minutes later.

Finished 70th out of probably less than 100 because again you have to catch and pass those that started before you and I probably was in the 2nd to last group.

Last year ran this in 8:45/mile this year 7:45ish so extremely happy with the results.
What would you do differently?:
