Age Group Rank = 6/18
Pre-race routine:

Had an early breakfast at 6:00...then had a bar and a few fruits before the race.
Event warmup:

Didn`t really warm up other then a quick 7 minuteish swim.
Swim
  • 14m 4s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

Pretty shitty swim actually the more I think about it. After we rounded the first buoy I felt like quitting. I couln`t breath, I never went that hard in a wetsuit and it was brutal. I might have put the suit up too high and it was really putting pressure on my neck. I just had to calm myself down and the rest of the swim went well.
What would you do differently?:

Not a whole lot, try to grab onto someone and draft more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Not bad, coulda been faster. Had to move a few times to let poeple by, pretty tight area.
What would you do differently?:

not a whole lot, just move faster.
Bike
  • 39m 47s
  • 20.2 kms
  • 30.47 km/hr
Comments:

Not good. I just didn`t have the legs, I couldn`t get up to speed and keep it there. I didn`t mix enough water with my Infinit and I couldn`t drink it...it was nasty.
What would you do differently?:

Mix my drink better, and go faster! Need to train harder!
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

Was pretty fast, not a whole lot I would change there.
Run
  • 22m 48s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 34s  min/km
Comments:

Not a bad run, I was pretty exausted...but I gave her hell at the end and it felt good the way I finished. I would love to knock off a few minutes in my next race.
What would you do differently?:

pace myself better, and push a bit harder with the legs.
Post race
Warm down:

not much, ate some food...stretched a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

need more training.

Event comments:

Great race! Great organisation! Lots of volunteers!

Nice race man!!  You should be pretty happy with that swim.  Think about where your swimming was at in August/September last year.  You've made huge improvements and now you are a FOP swimmer.
