Pre-race routine:

Had a nice quiet weekend as DH took the kids up to the cabin on Friday night so I was down three kids and a dog all weekend. It was lovely. Went to bed early had a great sleep and got up at 530 had my 2 cups of coffee and PB bagel with bananas. Grabbed my gear and water and off I went.
Event warmup:

Not much of a warm up. Just a quick 100m and off I went
Swim
  • 08m
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

The lap counters miss counted and forgot to tell me last lap, so I swam 20 metres to much then got out and ran out of the pool. So I missed my sprint for the last 50 metres, This pisses me off because I had alot of gas left in the tank. They did adjust my time but who knows how much faster it would have been
What would you do differently?:

Not trust the lap counters even if they say too. Good thing I had a feeling they were off
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Not sure of transition time because they added it to the bike but I know it was fast. I really need to work on my bike mounts
What would you do differently?:

Practice my bike mount
Bike
  • 39m 50s
  • 11.81 miles
  • 17.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride. I hammered on this one. Worked hard from start to finish. I worked my gears and felt great. I actually passed people and only got passed a few times. I had a hard time drinking and taking my Gel because I was working so hard.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more
Transition 2

Comments:

Great transition. fast fast fast
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 28m 21s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Good average run for me. It was hot on the way back and I need to drink better but I ran hard and passed people once again.
What would you do differently?:

Drink
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and gossiped with friends and team mates

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My own mind. On the run I think I am afraid to go faster because I am afraid of hurting. Must get over this

Event comments:

Great small local race..

Great race! "Too warm to swim fast"??? A buck and a half per 100 is pretty fast if you ask me! Any faster and you'd be running over the competition in your little boat! Good job now get out there and run HARD! A little hurt may be a good thing but then what the heck do I know? Well done!
