Subject: Pain behind my knees

Ok so I have had some pain behind my knees for the last couple days and I’m not sure how to make it go away.
It feels like I have pulled a tendon or something; if that makes any sense. Can anyone tell me what this might be from and how I can make it go away?
Thanks,
Min

Is it behind your knees as in the back of your knees? or as in behind the knee cap? If it is the back of the knees, I would say try lowering your saddle a little bit and see if that works.

SweetK - 2009-07-06 12:03 PM Does it hurt walking up stairs? If so it may be chondromalacia also known as Runner's Knee (PFS - Patellar Femoral Syndrome). I'm not a doctor but I've had my share of knee injuries and this is one of them. There are many resources on the web to offer guidance about recovery. If yours is really bad, see a doctor. Best of luck to you.

I haven’t noticed any pain walking up stairs just when I stand up and walk or run in general. After awhile of standing or walking it goes away though. Thanks for your help and advice.

I will try that, thanks.

I was wondering that myself just because when I first starting riding a while back I had this same problem.

Careful with that pain! I had some behind my knee, kept running and riding, just stretched more. A few weeks later of working through the pain i ran down a steep downhill and SNAP! Could not run anymore.

Turns out I have popliteus tendonitis and have been sidelined for 4 weeks, most likely another 3 or 4 and I have my first Oly in 4 weeks.

Don't ignore pain, go to an MD and PT to get this fixed before you really hurt yourself.

Be very careful with your knees...they are a pain to get healthy again once they are injured.

I had pain behind my knees when I started riding my new bike, and lowering the saddle just a bit completely fixed it.

Thanks guys. I know that most of the people on here always say that pain isn’t anything to ignore so that is why I wanted to ask. Thanks for all the input.
I did lower my saddle so I am hoping that will help. It’s starting to go away now so I hope that is all it was. Thanks again everyone.
