Based on my AG finish at Quartermax/Innsbrook, I was "invited" as a qualifier for this race.......this was not on my radar for this year but with a true qualification I felt it an obligation to go and race.......will be gliding in on IMKY fitness

Anyone else?????

Paul

I'm in but just as a regular age grouper, I didn't qualify. I've heard only great things about this race so I'm really excited about it

Sounds like a plan! I'll look for two goggles, you look for the red head with the yellow and black Army tri-top and it'll be too easy!
Happy training all!

Funny story, that. At CapTex I was waiting for some of my friends to finish and I was by the finish line. A redhead who might have been you was standing by me so I just blurted out `Are you by chance in the Army?' `No.' `Oh because you look like someone I kind of know but she's in the Army.'

She just gave me the `Stop hitting on me, creep.' look and moved away slowly.

Bumpity bump!

Getting excited!

Is anyone else competing with their tri club for the championship points? Our club (Kansas River Valley Triathlon Club) is pretty jacked to be there, we have about 40 members racing - woot!

Also we'll be "going out" in Bricktown Saturday night, so... join us!

Hey All, Getting ready for the 1st half-ironman of my career. About 30 days left, I'm feeling good and a little nervous. Been sick with stomach virus and allergies, so my training has not been the best lately. I think I'll be OK, did two Olympic races the last 2 weeks. I read the race reports from last year and got some great inspiration. Is everyone staying @ the Marriott? I was able to get a great rate at the Hampton Inn Bricktown cuz my sister works for Hilton. I'd definitely like to hang out with some fellow athletes, too. My wife and kids are not making the trip so I'll be there by myself. Good luck everyone- see you out there.Matt

I'm staying at the Hampton in Bricktown, too... with 4 other racers. We figured we'd rather walk/limp/stumble back to the hotel after partying in Bricktown Saturday night than drive. I stayed at the Marriott last year and while it was fairly nice, their elevators were broken the entire weekend. 1000s of athletes and their friends/family had to take the stairs, WITH BIKES AND GEAR, and were routed through the back kitchen area to get anywhere. It was weird. Really bad timing for them.

Anywho... yeah we will be there in full force! Looking forward to it!

I'm #305--I was shocked to see only FOUR women in my AG for the USAT Long Course registration...wow...I better make the top 3!

So out of curiosity:

Anyone ever dedicated a race to someone? If so, how did you do it? My friends daughter died about a month ago after a long battle with some heart problems. Following her battle gave me a lot of inspiration to complete my training for this event. I'm not sure how I'm going to get her recognized, but I wanted to do something special. I was thinking about a body marking or maybe making a sign to carry across the finish line. Anyone ever done something like this before? I'm looking for suggestions.

I think body marking would be a great way to do this.
Or a custom-made shirt. Wonder if you can custom make technical tees?
