Subject: How to get rid of heat rash?

so, I have this rash......

I was wearing a wrap around neoprene like knee brace and I developed heat rash all around my knee.   Red bumps on top of the knee, a welt-like across the back of the knee where it bends.  I have been keeping it clean and dry, using witch hazel and bismoline powder and it is here a week later.

What is your remedy?

Baby powder and air. That's what my momma said.

Edited to add: Uh, but after a week, i'd be pondering the word "allergy."

Yeah, anything that works for diaper rash should work for that...but I get one that I have to consistently put a dermatologist-provided cream onto to keep it at bay...so if you don't have any luck with baby powder and keeping it dry, I would see your friendly local dermatologist.

I swear by A & D lotion for any kind of chafing or rash.  I'd say that after a week you may want to visit the doctor though.

I would have gone to the doc if I had not already been in process of getting primary doc to get me to an ortho for sever weeks....   I forsee 3 visits to the primary before they will let me go to a derm.   I need a new primary.....   I hate HMO

my jungle man husband is chasing me around the house (not really chasing) trying to put straight tea tree oil on my inflamed, a bit broken, skin.  I point out that the bottle says "not intended for use on a rash or irritated or broken skin".    I told him to get some aloe and dilute it..    that is what I get for marrying  tarzan.

In a weird holistic sense, I think the irritation of the rash is making me stay aware of my feeble knee and making sure I walk carefully - so maybe it is a good thing.....

I remember in 1991 when I had an ACL reconstruction, they postponed my surgery because of the rash I had from the brace that they never figured out.  and in 2005 of so, I had another weird rash around the bra area while in training - they never figured it out either.  I am hearing the word allergy too.

If you're thinking it may well be an allergy, try an OTC hydrocortisone ointment.

i guess I should have put this in the injury forum, but I wanted higher traffic and a home remedy that might work.....

could not take it anymore - it is spreading down my leg so I want to  the urgent care place.   they gave me a clobetasol (steroid cream) and said if it gets worse instead of better, to stop and use the other scrip for an anti-fungal cream.

I put it on and now, 7 hours later, my knee looks swollen - but is that the knee injury or a reaction to the cream?  Will apply the 2nd dose tonight and if it is worse in am, go for the other cream.   man, this sucks.
