Pre-race routine:

got up, had my coffee, tried to eat brekfast but couldnt really eat it. Checked the weather obsessively...
Event warmup:

not really any warm to do, We got to the swim start area and waited around until it was time to go swim.
Swim
  • 30m 11s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt really good on this swim. I wanted to beat my teim from last year of 33 min. Did that.
I swam the entire leg, never had to stop or flip over once. I was very proud of that! I love this swim it is so relaxed compared to mass swim starts. I felt like i could just get in and swim, not fight for my place.
I did start to regret not being able to eat earlier though cuz my stomach started growling.
What would you do differently?:

Well, i did what i wanted to do on this one. Just neeed to be faster in the water overall.
Transition 1
  • 03m 54s
Comments:

this is a long run up from the river, but i ran the whole time. Took a few extra seconds to dry off and make sure my Gu chomps were opened in my bike box so i could eat on the bike.

What would you do differently?:

umm, not sure. I usually take a little extra time in T1 cuz it is harder for me to get my helmet and stuff on.
Bike
  • 1h 33m 19s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 16.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Well i wanted to beat my time from last year but i think i tied it. There was no rain, but still a little timid on down hills. None the elss i was happy enough with my performce.
What would you do differently?:

I really need to do more bike training if i want to get faster.
Transition 2
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

this was on par with other T2's.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Run
  • 1h 09m 9s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Well this is always my sore spot. My legs were tired at this point whcih made running tougher. My feet were hurting from the blisters that were forming with the rain getting into my shoes. PLus i had to stop and pee. I can run pertty well standalone, but off the bike, i am lucky to survive it.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure what i need to do except learn to get the lead out and HTFU.
Post race
Warm down:

found the NAMC tent, got some gatorade, went to take a quick shower then off to Big river for recovery meal and drinks.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think just time in the saddle and doing brick workouts. I was happy enough witht this race. Although i beat my time from last year by 12 min, i would like to see some fitness improvements.

Event comments:

Team Magic puts on a great race! THis is by far the best organized race i have ever done and gets better ever year.

You did awesome.

"I think just time in the saddle and doing brick workouts."
I agree.  I think regular doses of long rides will do a lot for you.

HTFU is harder than it sounds and you did awesome.  Chattanooga is not an easy race and it seems like you pretty much nailed it by beating last years time by 12 minutes.

Join us for some Tuesday Roswell rides and t-runs.  The rides are fun and the t-run sucks...perfect tri training.

Way to go! I know you were a little worried going in to this race and yet, you still beat last year's time by 12 minutes! That is huge.
