jerryrika - 2005-05-31 9:10 PM Sorry Guys....I fell 5,500 meters short of my goal, and I have no one to blame except for my wife She decided to deliver our third child on May 23rd, and I was unable to get to the pool enough to complete the swim. This was a great challenge and I think that everybody did a really good job. Thanks. Jerry
Congrats!! boy or girl? Hope wife and baby are doing well. Get some sleep - so you don't have circles under your eyes in your swim suit pic

Thank you. Here are a few stats, and a pic. Girl, 8.8lbs (Not Local Bike Store), 4.5 hours of labor.

My wife and my daughter are doing great. Mainly my job has been to keep the other two kids busy so my wife has some time to relax when the baby is sleeping.

Jerry

I did it! I missed my swim yesterday so I knew that today would have been do or die day. I also knew that I would have to swim for at least an extra 15 minutes, which would mean an extra 15 minutes late getting back to work since I swim during my lunch break. I had 1900 meters left to swim to meet my goal of 25000 metes and I succeeded. I swam a total of 1933 meters in 45 mins and 30 seconds. This swim challenge was really a good idea and I'm a much better swimmer as a result. I'm ready to do it again next month.

Hi Guys,

I met my goal of 40,000 yds and had a couple of swims left in me.  I finished the month off with a 6,550 yd swim this morning (a personal best for me) to bring my grand total to 50,000 yds for the month (another personal best).

Aside from being jazzed about meeting my goal for the month, I really feel A LOT stronger in the water than I did at the beginning of the month.  This competition was a great idea and a lot of fun.

I don't know if my shoulder could take doing this all the time.....

Danny

BMAX, your baby's picture (your avatar) is just too freakin' precious. Beautiful, beautiful child.

I have 6,500 yards to go. I'm off to the pool. It's like Groundhog Day in a swim pool...

Thanks for the compliment Renee! That picture was from his first bike trailer ride last week. He did pretty well! Just seems to get mad at his helmet after a while...
By the way, I came up a little short on my pledge, but still feel really good about what I accomplished. My swimming time has improved AND I lost 4 pounds!

Hi CHYKS! I just updated my log... I'm over my pledge of 12,000... I think my total was something like 14,900 +/-. It was quite a challenge for me to find the time to devote to all that swimming! I don't usually work my swim as much... I spend ALOT more time on the bike... and I should be running... but I really think I made some gains in the pool this month, and for that, I thank you! Thanks for challenging my A$$ and getting me in the pool... where I do love to be...

Good Luck, Chyks......

DONE!  The final update is complete.  I've checked and re-checked as well as hired an independent accounting firm to validate the results   I have to say that I got very optimistic as I updated the men's results...some of us put in a monster week 4...very impressive.  And congrats to everyone that pushed themselves to new limits.  I hope it was well worth all the effort and that everyone had fun...and didn't take any of the smack-talk personally.  It's finally over and you should all be proud!!!

Oh...I suppose you want to know the results?  Well, as I said the men put in a damn fine week and really went all out in the closing days.  Unfortunately, while we were cranking out yards to hit our goals the women were swimming bonus laps.  Sorry guys...we just let them get too far ahead in weeks 2 and 3.

Team Chyck earned a win...GREAT JOB LADIES!!!

The spreadsheet is back online.  The last column drops out the highest and lowest % as we had agreed...although it didn't make a difference in the outcome.
