I just signed myself, my brother and his fiance up to do a sprint relay. I'm doing the swim, brother the bike and his fiance is doing the run. How does it work and are there many who sign up for the relays?
Let me know what you've experienced with relays.
Thanks

My husband and I did two relays last year. I did the swim and the bike, and he did the run. There usually aren't very many relay teams relative to individual athletes, but at each of our races there were at least 12 teams, I think.

How it works--the swimmer gets out of the water and passes the timing chip to the biker, who does the bike and then passes the chip to the runner. There is usually a designated team transition area in a corner of the general transition area where the timing chip hand-off must happen.

Good luck with your race! We had a lot of fun with our relays last year.

The relay I did was just as Kelly described except we didn't have to pass off the chip. There were 3 chips per team. Otherwise it was the same.
