Anyone going to the Jacks Generic sprint tri 8/2 ?  I went down and drove the bike course and about a third of it has brand new chip seal with tons of loose gravel. Sure hope nobody gets hurt on the sharp turns. I know I will be very tentative.    I'm still excited about this tri, as it is my second one (did the Rookie a couple months ago) and anxious to see if my hard training pays off :D

I decided to pass on it this year because I could not stand the thought of getting into that warm, smelly water again.  Outside of that, I enjoyed the race so have a good time.

Texas Ski Ranch down near San Marcos....I did this one last year, and actually won my AG, so while I was tempted to defend my title--I'm just not doing sprints this year (too short!) as I train for IM....that, and I also just do not want to get in that water in August.  There is no way around it, it is GROSS.

Don't let any of the goat-turded water get in your mouth.

I love the smell of sulfur in the morning!

Rookie was probably the most disgusting water I have ever been in.

I did Jack's last year.  Other than the water, it's a great event.  In fact, I'll probably go down just to attend.

Just finished Marble Falls, where the water was much cleaner.

Heading to Jack and Adams tomorrow to pick up my packet. I am very excited about this, my 2nd tri and 1st OWS. How are the gently rolling hills on this course. I come from the flat coastal bend around Corpus Christi. Just a bunch of flat farmland and an occasional overpass to get some hill work on.

Coming from another coastal resident, the hills are definitely more existent than we are used to. I remember 2 reasonable climbs (for someone used to flat terrain) and another 8-10 smaller rollers. The first and probably biggest climb is coming out of T1 heading up the access road. You'll have all your hill work pay off with a fun downhill to the end of the bike course coming back to T2. I hit 34mph on the descent. Overall, though, it's not as intimidating as it looks or sounds.

Good luck and enjoy the race! Do try to get out of that water ASAP. Laughing

Could not have asked for more. Cool day (for a Texas August day) and an awesome Jack and Adam's event. Wish they were all this well organized!
