Total Time = 2h 30m 48s
Overall Rank = 45/185
Age Group = M50-54
Age Group Rank = 2/10
Pre-race routine:

Normal Honey Nut Cheerios and banana with GE pre-race. Scott & I left before Barb who volunteered this year. TA took the whole lot this year so we got a spot in the RPU lot (lucky as someone pulled out in front of us). We were supposed to have assigned rack spots by number but they ran out of time and it was open racking. Bike in/out at different ends of TA so it didn't matter too much where you were.
Event warmup:

Got in a little of everything. I had been having some blister issues on right heel but all was good and I wore my racing shoes and ran w/o socks.
Swim
  • 29m 5s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was a little off course on the 1st loop, kept drifting left away from buoys, better on 2nd loop. I got into 1:40s but aided by run.
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

3rd in AG, +17. A little trouble with sunglasses and helmet.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 18s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.07 mile/hr
Comments:

Strong winds with gusts. I did have a 1:55 mile - 31.1mph w/no hills. The last few downhills on 18 were scary with strong cross wind pushing me into center of road.
What would you do differently?:

Bike fitness is not where I'd like it to be.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

2nd in AG +1 to winnwer of AG.
Run
  • 43m 50s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Calculated time is 7:03 pace, official results show 7:10. I was hoping to get sub 7 pace. I had some trouble with my Garmin, hit stop/start instead of lap so ended up adding a new run workout on the fly. That's why my run totals are off. Nothing left for a kick at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Bike fitness needs to be better. Remember to hit lap instead stop/start on Garmin.
Post race
Warm down:

Caught up with Barb and Scott for food. We missed Scott coming in because he peeled down tri top and we were looking for a blue top. Hung out w/some TriRochester members. Club picnic later in the day at our house.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike fitness. Hurts both my bike and run times. I was 6:23 slower than last year, slower in all disciplines. My time last year would have won AG. 2009 were tougher conditions.

Event comments:

Another good job by Bill. Some slight issues with Sprint/Oly overlap on bike especially at the end when there are runners as well on 37th St. It's always fun to do a race with Scott and spend time with him.
