Subject: Rack for carbon fiber
I have a trek 1500 with the carbon fiber seat post. I have recently been looking for a rack that I can put on my bike for possible commuting. All of the ones I have seen use the clamp on rack or the "legs". I hear the clamps are not safe for the post. The 1500 also has no eyelets for leg supports on the rack.

Any sugestions other than a new seat post.
Thanks
Micah

Take the front and rear wheels off and put it in the trunk

Im serious, it only takes a minuite to take the rear tire off. The front comes off even faster.

And you dont have to worry about theft, or people screwwing with it.

-sorry if you took that sarcastically the first time

I guess I might have been a little confusing with my request. I am liiking for a mount to put a trunk (rack with a bag) on my bike so I can put my work stuff in it and commute to work on my bike. Not a way to put the bike in the trunk... Sorry..

Topeak makes some good racks like you are looking for, and we bought one with a quickrelease handle that clamps onto the seat post. I dont think you will be able to put so much pressure on the carbon fiber seat post that it will damage it, and if you are not comfortable with that, just pay a few extra to get a "commuter" aluminum one to use when riding to and from work.

Topeak makes the rack and bag systems that clip together, and keeps you from having to deal with the troublesome velcro type. Lastly, some of the Topeak racks themselves have the side bars for a commuter type pannier bag, but does not need to attach to the bottom of the frame.

Good luck.
