Comments:

I drank equivalent of 5 16oz bottles. Two 32oz on frame, one 16oz in aero bottle, one in pocket. Went through 4 gu's 2 apple and two tangerine. Ordinary year would need 6 or 7 16oz bottles.
What would you do differently?:

More fluids if hotter (I had no sag and ran out even when cool out).

Really good job.  Did you really ride 160 miles at over 24mph?  Was it a giant peleton of good riders?  Great ride at any pace!

Missed the GREAT weather they had this year (70's & quartering tailwind).  I did RAIN last year in bizarre weather.  Thunderstorms at start, light-mod rain next 60mi, then sun came out for heat & humidity at finish (heat index mid 90's).  Winds were were generally crossing rather than helping.  Ave'd. 19.3mph on road bike-no aerobars.  I had a great peloton for drafting through 2nd rest stop, then was 2nd strong in a small pack of 6.  Rode pretty much alone beyond lunch stop.
General event comments: Generally well-run, although stops are not set up for fast turnover.  Most faster riders are experienced and courteous.  Nice police escort through Terre Haute & usu. some supportive local crowds in 1st few small towns clapping & ringing cow bells just like European Tour fans. US 40 is pretty wide open for most of route, but stretch south of Indy runs through city streets (with stop signs, lights, and local cops who CAN write tickets for traffic violations ).BTW- event rules demand following all traffic laws (course IS open to car traffic) and BANS hand-ups from moving vehicles.
