Age Group Rank = 22/42
Pre-race routine:

Overslept. Was supposed to pick up kelpeng (35 minutes away) at just before 5, got up at 4:44. Ack! Good thing I packed the night before, because there was no time for checking anything, much less packing anything (or going potty, for that matter). Used the speed limit as more of a reference value than something to place any actual value in, and made it to the race in time, somehow.
Event warmup:

Made sure my bike worked, that was about it.

Comments:

CRUSHED!

Had an absolute ball. I have never gone near this fast before. First race this year without howling winds, and I rocked it. Big ring the whole way, not passed by anyone. Grueling Wednesday group rides are paying off huge.

Got yelled at by one women late in the ride who remembered me from Rochester, something to the effect of her being frustrated because I always pass her on the bike (nevermind her run splits are about a minute per mile better than mine) - that was pretty cool.
What would you do differently?:

Put this in a bottle and serve it up every race, as far as I'm concerned.
Transition 2
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

Took the time to put socks on after bleeding through my shoe at Rochester last month. Good call.
Run
  • 41m 30s
  • 5.3 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Fine with this result. Would like to be closer to 7:30's, but can't really complain based on the amount of running I have been doing. No bloody feet, which is nice.

Event comments:

Awesome event. Plan to make this an annual race. Great BT showing (grilled together afterward).

Need to refocus on running, now that my bike appears to be in good shape. Probably ought to really learn to swim one of these years.

Fairness in Information Act: the bike was probably 1/2-3/4 mile shorter than official results. My computer had me just shy of 23 mph, which I will still take any day.

Nice race! You passed me on the bike.... I don't know you, but based on your time you would have had to.

I agree -- this is a great race. All the other people can have Lifetime. This is my "A' race for July.

Perfect day for a race. It was fun out there. Sorry I had to leave immediately.

Fanastic job, especially on the bike.  The distances are always a little bit off, I don't even bother to check anymore.  Thanks for grilling.  Ground beef - hee hee.  I can't believe you guys made it there on time...

Great job.  Thanks for manning the grill.  I especially liked how our smoke went out over the whole crowd.  Awesome ride.
