Sunny
Total Time = 1h 23m 29s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 8/10
Event warmup:

Warm up run for 15 min, a little stretching, and a short swim to get used to the water
Swim
  • 14h 33m
  • 750 meters
  • 1h 56m 24s / 100 meters
Comments:

being my first group open water swim, I freaked out a little. My breathing was way off, and I never really got into a comfortable rhythm. Ended up walking part of the course.
What would you do differently?:

more open water swim practice!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

I was really happy with my transition, wetsuit came off easy. Bike mount was good, shoes attached to bike worked really well
What would you do differently?:

Run faster from the water to transition
Bike
  • 38m 39s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 19.25 mile/hr
Comments:

I eased off on the bike a little too much, wanted to save more for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder on the bike, I had more than enough in the tank for the run
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

I got cut off into transition and ended up skidding on my foot, which resulted in tearing a bunch of skin off of my foot.
Run
  • 28m 10s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

The cut on my foot really slowed my run pace down. Calves started to cramp up bad just out of T2. Had to stop to get gauze at an aid station. Crowd support and volunteer support was awesome!
What would you do differently?:

not much-if I had not injured my foot I could have run much faster. I do need to do more bricks to get my calves used to running off the bike
Post race
Warm down:

went to aid station and sat down, started to cramp up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

freaking out in the water and not having a comfortable rhythm, not going hard enough on the bike, and injury of my foot.

Event comments:

This was a very well run and organized race! I will be doing this again next year for sure!

It was nice meeting you yesterday, and you gutted out that nasty foot injury nicely and salvaged a good race out of it. Good luck in the remaining racing season.
