Overall Rank = 430/666

Age Group Rank = 17/41
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6 am, got dressed. Ate cheerios with a little honey and milk, and had some coffee. Packed a PB and J sandwich and a banana for closer to the race. Got to the venue- the parking lot was a long walk away, and I forgot the sandwich and banana in the car! So I ate a couple extra gels. I had the last gel at 8:20 (race start was 9:15 for my wave).
Event warmup:

We walked the swim course, but no other real warm up.
Swim
  • 19m 10s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 34s / 100 meters
Comments:

I need to swim more and get faster. I was also frustrated with a swimmer next to me who kept cutting diagonally right into me! I even said something to her after the third time, but it didn't help. I wasn't sure I could keep up a sprint past her and didn't want to tire out, so it slowed me down a little.
What would you do differently?:

Train more and sprint past the annoying swimmer.
Transition 1
  • 03m 12s
Comments:

This took too long. I think I dallied a bit too much. I also would love to get a wetsuit that wasn't so long legged- it is hard to get off of my feet.
What would you do differently?:

speed up!
Bike
  • 57m 49s
  • 16.2 miles
  • 16.81 mile/hr
Comments:

This felt good. I met my goal of going >16 MPH, and I passed a fair number of people (and didn't get passed much!). For the first time I really used the aerobars a fair amount (I figured out a new position that is much more secure), and I think that helped. I even felt like the hills went OK. I know I still need time in the saddle, but I was happy. I also eased up in the last mile to let my legs relax, and let someone pass me :).
What would you do differently?:

Train more!
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Also slow in comparison to the others. Maybe I can drop the hat?
What would you do differently?:

I'll have to think about this one.
Run
  • 28m 13s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my fastest run in a tri, and my goal was < 9 min/miles so I am pretty happy. My legs were tired for the first 1/2 mile but loosened up and I was able to speed up and pass quite a few people.
What would you do differently?:

More speedwork to get faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around, chatting, ice cream (is that the perfect post-race food?)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, especially on the swim.

Event comments:

Great race!

Well, I tried to cheer on each woman in pink that passed the BT water station on the run course (I even asked the BT guys to help me look for a pink Zoot suit).  Sorry that I missed you, I really wanted to catch up!  But, after the last runner passed, I'm pretty sure you would have left by then. =)

Nice job with your race!

Great job!  I agree, that little bit past the 3 mile mark seemed to take a LONG time!
