Comments: This was my first ride event so I got 'caught up in the moment'. The first 50 or so miles felt great but I went too hard too early with an average speed of 20.4 mph. In between miles 60 and 70 I had some leg cramping but was able to maintain speed and cadence. Hydration and nutrition were great and I felt like I had plenty of energy all day. Only issues were the cramping which was a result of the early pace and lack of conditioning. Even with the off route incident the day was a success. I set out to prepare for the hotter n hell and I accomplished my goals. It was great having some one to ride with and Justin W. did a great job pulling me around. I new I could complete the distance, but the ride was actually harder than I thought it would be. Your mind can really wonder. What would you do differently?: Do a better job of pacing early on in the ride. Post race
Warm down: Drank, drank, and looked for shade. Thanks to the boy scouts for the water ice. Also tried to eat some spaghetti but could only get down two bits. What limited your ability to perform faster: Going too hard too early. Event comments: The route could have been better marked. Last updated: 2009-07-16 12:00 AM
