Total Time = 1h 08m
Overall Rank = 77/1269
Age Group = M 20-24
Age Group Rank = 3/26
Pre-race routine:

Got up fairly early, had some breakfast. Waffle w/ peanut butter, endurox/protein shake, coffee. Parents picked me up (the whole family was doing the 5k) and off we went.
Event warmup:

Real light jog and some stretching. Legs felt a little heavy before the start, so I was a little concerned.

Comments:

Took it out comfortably since I wasn't too sure how to pace a run other than a 5k. Crowds were annoying the first mile or so, took me that long to get into a rhythm. Kept an eye on my HR, keeping it under control. Pushed harder the last 5k for sure, with a sprint kick at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to pace it better, keep it more even keeled, maybe a little harder throughout. Probably could have gone a couple of minutes faster with the right pacing.
Post race
Warm down:

10 minute light jog.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not knowing how to pace a race of that length.

Performance: Good
Progressively faster by 5k. 23:46, 23:09, 21:02 according to the offical timing system.
Course: One loop around White Rock Lake. Good course, pretty flat. A couple of short hills, if that's what you want to call them. They had water stations about every 1.5 miles, and sprinkler set up maybe every 3. Weather was much better than you might expect in July. Cool front kept it in the low 80s.
Keeping cool Good Drinking Just right
