Let's be honest I had no clue what i was doing, but i did manage to get a good breakfast toast and peanut butter and a banana and cup of tea. We left 2 hours before the race and got there about 45 minutes prior so with good time to spare. But because I was new and nervous when the first thing wasnt where I expectd it to be well things took a little longer then expected and I started thinking what the(beep) was I thinking. But my bf cooled my jets and once I found out where to reck my bike and felt little better and especially since someone else said that it was completely normal to feel this way on your first race day.

The water was much warmer then expected, pleasant surprise. We jumped in off the dock and swam the total distance in deep water. I breaststroked part of the way cause i was trying to catch my breath btw crawling with everyone around. I was pleased to see some swimmers behiond me cause my goal was just to survive and I felt good after the swim and could run right into transition besides slipping on the exiting dock.

This was a course that was a straight road to end and back. The course was hillier then I expected but not bad. I played cat and mouse with another athlete which kept me going (I might like the passing thing a little lol). I took off in too high of a gear so i had a hell of a time getting going.

I'm no runner and need to keep working on this. I kept sprinting for as far as I could and then would walk a little while. But good thing was I passed a couple people. Cherry picking is another game i like. I picked a person in front of me and was like you gotta at least run until you get past that person. The finish line was also a good insentive the instant i saw that i sprinted home.
Course: This course started on gravel track out from the transition area on to the road. Typical cottage country road with some hills not as bad as I expected.

Congratulations on completing your first race! It is quite normal to have butterflies before any race, but especially your first! You did well to finish, and you learned many good lessons.

So now you have the tri bug... what's next?
