Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4am, hopped in the shower, ate my cereal w/ strawberries (Molly cut them up for the the night before :) )and hit the road. It was pitch black driving there!!!

Event warmup:

The parking lot was almost two miles from transition so it took us forever to get there!!! Didn't have much time to warm up. And the water was FREEZING so I didn't bother swimming. Basically just ran around for a few minutes.

Swim
  • 09m 40s
  • 732 meters
  • 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was cold but didn't seem to be much of an issue once we got going. Time was good, but it didn't feel good.
What would you do differently?:

If I could get into my stroke or rhythm I know I could easily finish in the top 5 for the swim. I felt myself go anaerobic from the start and it was hard to recover from that.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Didn't clip shoes in ahead of time so running with bike was a little harder but I didn't feel I practiced getting into shoes while they were already clipped in enough. Over all I felt good though...
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting into shoes while they are clipped in already.
Bike
  • 38m 33s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 20.54 mile/hr
Comments:

I did better than I expected on the bike. The course was SUPER EASY (aside from the first and last mile or so that was filed with pot holes). For the first loop I only saw a few other people because I was in the first wave and I finished the swim in the front of the pack. I heard later on it got really crowded.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more. When I got back to transition, I still had half of my gatorade left. Not good.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Forgot to get feet out of shoes before getting off bike.

Photobucket
What would you do differently?:

Instead of unclipping shoes just take feet out at the end and pedal on top of shoes.
Run
  • 27m 50s
  • 4 miles
  • 06m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

For the first half I was running a 7 minute pace, then for the second half I tried to stay at a 6:30 pace.

Post race
Warm down:

Light stretching. Recover drink + Banana

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think there is room for improvement on the bike and run as well as some minor adjustments in transitions.

Event comments:

Overall a VERY good experience. I will be doing this race next year!

Thanks to my loyal Fans!!!
