I figured CJ would have started this thread already.

Who's in?

I would be interested in participating in a ride of the course sometime before the race.

I rode the course (Olympic) last Sunday morning. And then re-rode over the run course. Rolling hills. Lots of shade after the 1st 6-8 miles. Some big climbs in the last 4-5 miles. I'm kind of backward because I ride a hardtail mtn bike and do all my training on trails and greenways with knobby tires. I put road tires on about a week before each race. Anyway, even with knobbies, stopping to figure out where I was and not pushingvery hard, I figure I did a decent time and enjoyed the ride. I'd love to ride it again, but my weekends before this race have filled-up with other stuff.I was also scoping the swim area even contemplating the idea of doing an OWS there. But since it is the town dock and the swim heads along the boat channel out of the town, it doesn't seem like they want swimmers in those waters.

I'm off this Friday so I think I'm going to go up there early and do a bike/run brick through the course.
Saturday and Sunday are both filled with kid's birthday parties.

Seeing that I haven't done much biking or swimming for the past month and my 10 year HS reunion is the day before at Little Havana and I love me some mojitos, I really have no idea what my time will be.  Should be fun.

Looks like there is a chance of no wetsuits:

Water Temperature - will be taken 30 minutes before the race starts. BRING your Wetsuit...there IS a chance for a wetsuit legal race. Remember, you may wear a wetsuit in water under 78. In water from 78 to 83.9 you may still wear one but are ineligible for awards.

Yeah steve I saw that.. werid.  I wonder if I can borrow a speed suit.  Will that help at all?  Wait you can still wear one but I doubt I'll be getting a top in the AG placement for this race.

Last year I don't believe it was wetsuit legal...

or maybe it was but you weren't eligible for awards.

Last year the water temp was just a bit over 78F. You could wear wetsuits but were not eligible for awards.

that is true.. but this is a much longer distance for the race.  I think it will be a game time decision.

Hopefully they measure the swim more accurately this year.  It sure was much longer than 1500M last year.  But overall I'm looking forward to this race and hoping for much improvement from my overall time last year!

What's everyone have on tap for taper week?

Any BTers want to carpool up from below Baltimore for packet pickup on Saturday and maybe grab some lunch?

yes, definitely ! ... I live in Baltimore City but would be up for meeting somwhere in Columbia ? (or we could meet in Baltimre since it's on the way .. )

Not tapering - just shifting around my workouts so they are bit front loaded and I can get some rest Saturday.

I might be interested in doing this also.  Gotta check the schedule though.  Even though I did the race day registration I don't want to worry about all that crap the day of the race.

I'm sorta tapering or sorta just taking it more easy this week.  No real heavy intense workouts especially with this heat.
