If you have time between now and the race, go out and do the coarses. The bike coarse has very little traffic on Saturday mornings. I aways try to at least ride or drive the coarses before the race.

This will be my 2nd tri...so I'm an old pro Tongue out

My advice - look through the transtion videos on here.  They were very informative and a big help!  Definitely take the time to walk the transitions.  I went to the (all women's) tri in June and the transitions from the swim to bike is a bit long - so know where you wanna go.

As early as it may be...the earlier you can get there - the better :-)

You can expect...to have alot of

  FUN!!

This was my first tri as well. I did it last year and wasn't sure what to expect either, however, I stayed very disciplined at my training and at race time I just tried to keep pace with my training.......and then.....I was hooked!! Definately go check out the courses and do a little swimming in the pool.

Good luck and have fun!!

Hey...does anyone know if you can enter this race as a 2-member co-ed relay team? Or are you required to have 3 members on a relay team? My hubby and I talked about possibly signing up last minute for this, but it would just be the two of us - I would swim/run, he would bike. I couldn't find any specific details on their website, as to what constitutes a "relay team".

I checked on their web site for last years results and found that there were 'bout 6 co-ed relay teams out of 28 that only had 2 people on them.....SOOOOO........ GO SIGN UP!!

First timer here.  Any advice on a wearing a trisuit vs shorts and maybe a singlet?  I've read that shorts and a singlet is cheaper, but it doesn't look like you save that much and I'm not worried about saving $20.  I think it would be hard to put on a singlet after you're already wet.  Can you do the bike/run without a shirt?  What do most people do?

Thanks!

Not a big deal, but it makes it hard to test ride the course

Definitely odd, but just confirm when you get to packet pickup.  That, of course, defeats the purpose of trying to drive/bike the course way ahead of the event date.

Odd indeed, but I don't think I'd worry about it too much as it looks like it's just a few blocks that are "in question"...the rest of the course map follows the description, so if you're looking to do a test ride of the course, I'd probably just do the 1 lap back to the finish and be good with that. Be careful on 75th Street though...it can get a good amount of traffic. During the race, there will be a coned-off bike lane for the riders, but the road is open to traffic...so just stay alert.

If I remember correctly the description is correct. The map is not right. The loops is the same on both but the start and finish are wrong on the map. So if you go out for a ride follow the description.

I wore tri shorts and a singlet last year and will again this year, not because of the $$'s but because this was my first tri and I thought I might feel constricted on the run. This way I had an option of losing my singlet for the run if I wanted to. My singlet I wore in the swim, so I didn't have to put it on in T1, and it felt like it had a little bouyancy to it...just left the zipper all the way up for the swim.

Last year the course "description" was accurate and not the course "map". Last years bike course was only 12.43 mi., not 13.67 like this years. After looking at the course map and description for this year I would say the "description" is more accurate....this looks like the same map they had last year and it was not correct last year either!

Going for my test swim and ride tonight if the weather holds out it should be ok. Traffic may be bad on the course however, but speed is not the issue its looking for tricky turn and spots that might screw up my bike gearing

back from the test swim and bike ride. Swim went well except that I forgot my googles but I used it to simualte race conditions. The bike ride is extremely flat I stayed in the same  3 gears almost the whole ride. As for the run it look like there is a minor uphile right at the end of mile 2 but mile 3 is all downhill (more or less).

The race juices are starting to flow

sorry did not check the water temp, but was not uncomfortable to swim in (74 would be my guess)

But it should heat up this week. I am hoping for a wet suit race but I would guess it will get to warm
