Hard to say for sure...I am 5'5", 142 lbs.   Those scales say 10%, but when I do calipers they say about 14%...right now I do feel a little chubby.   All my fat in on my waste.

Not doing tris this summer, just running events - must be eating too much pizza.

After the sprint tri today, there was a booth set up to measure body fat percentage using the calibers.  Mine 8.6%  I was surprised.

What's yours?

I hate you.

At 5'4" and 120 pounds... I am 22.1% body fat.

There, you beat me at something on Saturday.

Your 22.1% looks better in a bikini then my 8.6%.

Were you suprised it was that low or that high? Its not very accurate to do after exercise, as blood flow to the skin makes the fold smaller than it actually is, thus underestimating your bf%.

Skinfolds can predict a couple of % either side of what the actual value is so don't be too shocked if you're not near where you thought you should be.

I got skinfolded a few weeks ago and was 8.7%.

I was surprised it was that low.  My arms, chest & legs (the points they measured) may have low body fat but I have a spare tire.  The body fat scale at home usually puts me around 10-13%.

So they didn't do an abdominal reading? That's where guys tend to store most of their fat and lose that last. I wouldn't put too much stock in the actual number.

Nope, surprised me.  They measured at the following points - 1.  tricep, 2.  chest, 3.  thigh.

After he measured at my chest, I pulled up my shirt, expecting him to go for the waist.  Nope, not needed.

then i would say the numbers are no good.  i think the waist is the only area you would find any fat on my body.  last time i had it done with calipers (about 20-25 pounds ago) I was 11%.  at the time I was 6'1" and 150 pounds.  they did measure my abdominal area.  as Derekl said, that's where most men store most of there fat!

Trunk....I wish I had a trunk. I wear a size medium bike short and it's sagging in the butt. I carry a little fat in the middle.

Have to go home to check the printout from the health screening I had, but I know it's in the teens, high teens...either 18 or 19 something.

When I was a trainer we measured guys in the belly and not the thigh - that was only for the women.  Men don't carry fat in their thighs generally speaking.

At my lowest I was 13% at the time I thought that was awesome but now when I look at pics from that time I'm not happy with myself, I was too thin for me.  I have no idea where my body fat is right now.... well... I guess I have an idea - I'd guess 18-22% and I am very happy with that.

The more sites that are measured (ie triceps = 1 site), the more accurate the calcualtion is. You should do at least 3, but the most accurate will come from 7 sites for men, and 6 for women OR there is what is called the 'sum of 6' which is, funnily enough, the sum of 6 skinfolds (triceps, subscapular, suprspinale, abdominal, thigh and calf). This doesn't give a %, but is more accurate for monitoring change, as it doesn't actually predict a value.

Dunno.  15%?  A lot.  I'm 228 and at 195 I would be ripped with mostly muscle.  I could never see myself below 195.  So I guess that would be 15%, but I'm sure it's higher.  When I was bodybuilding I was 242 with 6%.
